Just an informational bit (and maybe helpful to future applicants). I spoke with admissions today because I need to initiate the appeal process for financial aid. I started with the admissions office to ask about merit money. I was told the 2025 applicant class was highly competitive.
The lowest GPA for merit recipients was 4.1 (I was told this was weighted and attention paid to rigor. So there might be a “secret AU formula” to calculate that. And if test scores were submitted, the lowest SAT score was 1440. I don’t know about ACT as my child did not submit those.

This sounds accurate to most past years as well. Historically AU doesn’t negotiate merit aid. Good luck with the financial aid office though!
Were you able to appeal? We tried since there was a disconnect on ours as well, but it was denied. S25 is very disappointed.
Yes, we did appeal and they said they were re-assessing. No result yet. They said "mid April.’ We’re extremely low income, SAI of negative -1,500, my kid is max-Pell Grant eligible, etc.
