America's Got Talent, American Idol, XFactor, etc.

Lots of really good auditions tonight. Too many to list. I like David, the “ladies man”. Kind of reminds me of a singing version of Astro on XFactor. I thought the ending of tonigt’s show was a little “cheesy”. I hope Symone is okay and that it was just for dramatic effect…

It was scary to watch her fall off that stage. You could see her start to stagger, but you didn’t really figure out that she was in trouble until she took a header off that stage. Her stage-dad father sounded really controlling…

Too bad that Jane Carrey didn’t have the goods tonight…

The Voice is the best show. Period.

I thought Jane Carrey’s song selection hurt her. I like CCR but think another song might have been better for her.

I think I missed the first couple of auditions on Sunday…will have to resort to YouTube. :)

ellemenope, I thought Jane Carrey gave pretty much the identical audition as she did the first time out in San Diego, when the judges told her that she needed to connect with the song more. She seems to “rush through” her performances. I really respected the fact that the judges didn’t give her any more free passes just because she was Jim Carrey’s daughter.

I thought she rushed it, didn’t hold her notes long enough and closed her eyes during her performance (which JLo specifically told her to work on). Nerves got to her…

Felt sorry for that unemployed kid from New York whose mother left the family and whose father is sick. Maybe now he can go home and get a job and move on with his life…

I wish Idol would cut out all the drama (feuds) of the group rehearsals and just show the group performances. Amy, aka “Tent Girl”, supposedly has flu-like symptoms. I’m more inclined to think she is suffering from alcohol withdrawal syndrome based on her long, recent history of alcohol abuse.

I don’t know. A lot of the kids are coming down with some sort of intestinal bug. Agree about the dumb group drama…

I don’t know if anyone here watches Person of Interest (Thursday, CBS, 9 pm). Astro, from X Factor, played a 14 year old street kid. Looks like rapping isn’t the only thing he can do…

LMNOP … I saw a quick flash of that show. He was a good actor, actually.

Regarding the bug that was going through AI, yuck. I felt bad for those kids.

Jim Carrey’s daughter has a voice, but it is clearly undeveloped for professional stuff at this point. I think if she worked on it and came back in 1-2 years she could do a lot better.

I also don’t like all the drama and feuds of the group rounds. In some ways it’s good to show the non-team players struggle and then not make the cut, but some of the drama is just boring and sad to watch.

Reminder: The Voice is on now 8:00pm @ NBC

Hey–where are all the bald women this year? There was the blue hair/half bald woman with the tattoo between her breasts…

One thing that surprises, and, yes, annoys me, is that they apparently have not even considered which coach they’d choose if they have more than one turn around. Wouldn’t that be given careful thought ahead of time?

I hate that the Voice is now following all of the others and pushing the backstory. And did anyone else totally not get the Egyptian warrior princess or whatever she called herself? Her voice wasn’t just strange it was awful…

Ok, since it is SUPER crucial to the BLIND auditions on The Voice, I am asking whether you guys think that the coaches/judges have never ever heard a peep about or from these contestants before they hear them sing on the show???

No I do not think so. And the whole thing of the contestants acting like they aren’t sure who to pick is stupid. Of course they have thought about it ahead of time.

I totally agree with ebeeeee and alwaysamom, the whole ‘faux’ conflict about who to pick is boring and such a waste of time.

I really like this show compared to the others. I like that they focus on voice than facade (assuming its true), and I really like that it seems so much more ‘kinder’ all around. They try hard to give supportive feedback to the rejectees (and I think do a good job with it), and the judges give each other crap but they aren’t mean to one another.

I could not believe how that woman had mutilated herself with tattoos. I couldn’t stand to look at her. The blue hair and half-shaved head were nothing in comparison. More to the point, I really disliked her singing, and was glad she wasn’t picked.

I think that although they would have to be nuts not to have thought about who they would like as a coach, when it comes down to it many of them really are torn. After all, what the coaches say to them about their singing is a new factor to consider. It is also possible that they try not to set their heart on one person in advance, since they don’t know who will turn around for them.

It’s like waiting until April to see what your choices are rather than placing all of your hopes and dreams on a single dream school. ;)

I thought she was as good or better than some others who were picked so I find I can’t always predict during the song who will be picked. The tattoos didn’t bother me. She seemed to be a mature and thoughtful person.

I agree, cartera. I liked her a lot more than several of the others. I was kind of disappointed in last night’s bunch. I’ve loved a lot of the singers in the previous shows and thought that there was an abundance of talent. Last night, none of them wowed me and a few of them that the judges seemed to love really surprised me. It made me think, for the first time this season, that what they’re hearing in the studio is not the same as what those of us at home are hearing.
