I am in the camp that is turned off by both the attitudes of Jessica and Joshua. I don’t find either of them to seem sincere and Joshua just seems off-putting somehow. When he is talked to/interviewed he seems pretty flat. That will be tough for all the after Idol interviewing.

I read yesterday that Phillip said he will have some major surgery for his kidney stone problem after the show ends and before the tour. Poor guy. They seem to be somewhat willing to work with him to get him enough rest during the week while still fulfilling his on stage responsibilities (except for the Ford commercial - ha). There was even talk that if he won they might have to dely the usual post-Idol media opps till surgery is complete. Prayers for him. I’m still rooting for him!

I disagree that PP has a limited range. I think he is very like his mentor Dave Matthews and John Mayer and has a very distinctive style. It is also very apparent that he is just not feeling great. I have appreciated Jimmy Iovine pointing that out, but I was also happy to see him rise to the occasion this week. Every once in awhile you get the glimpse of what he is probably like at 100%–swinging on the silly swings the girls had to use Wednesday–he has a great sense of self and sense of humor. I wish they’d let him sing an original in the finale. Also can’t WAIT to see what song the judges will pick for him to sing.

Jessica just bugs me–I think I’ve spent too much time on the music major forums. The girl DOES need coaching, but most of all life experience!

Joshua is wonderful, but just isn’t an artist whose music I will buy.

Anyone want to comment on J.Lo’s performance? I actually thought she sang and danced really well. I did NOT like her outfit, however. It wasn’t too kind to her thighs.:(

As we started to watch JLo (and then promptly fast forwarded after about 30 seconds), my D asked, “HOW old is she???” We looked it up - 42, exactly 10 years younger than me. I promise you that is not how I wanted to portray myself in any way, shape or form 10 years ago!

I read this morning that last year she gyrated on the stage with her husband Marc Anthony, last night she was with her 20ish year old BF/dancer. By next year, she may be taking one of the teen contestants up with her!!!

I’m not sure if she was singing during her performance (I doubt it), however just as the last few big performances on AI (Katy Perry, Coldplay) it was pre-recorded.

I actually like JLo’s performance … even if the singing was pre-recorded. She looks great, even with her thighs a little curvy. (My H couldn’t take his eyes off her every move, too.) While her dancing and sexiness is more than I will ever portray, she pulled it off nicely, and certainly showed the young AI contestants what it looks like to own the stage. Go JLo!

Loved JLo, but the boyfriend seemed a bit young…Is there the same age difference between Ryan Seacrest and Julianne Hough as between JLo and BF? Why does it seem creepier when it’s an older woman/younger man situation?

I had to check the answer to your question, elle – the age difference between JLo and her boyfriend is 18 years and the age difference between Ryan and Julianne is 14 years. Seems creepier to me too, and no jealousy involved.

I didn’t realize that one of the boy toys during J Lo’s song was her BF. I am not a big fan of hers anyway. The song was way too suggestive, seemed creepy, and much too young for her.

Her BF was the one who removed some fluff from her hair at the end of her song. She seemed genuinely happy…so I am happy for her. She hasn’t been that lucky in love…

As for dancing suggestively, nothing could be as awful as her dancing when Marc Anthony sang at last year’s American Idol finale! We didn’t find out till later that they were divorcing, which made me appreciate her acting ability a lot more than I ever had…

My wife and I watched “U-Turn” just before watching Wednesday’s show. J.Lo is a pretty good actress— even way back then (movie made about 16 years ago).

“As for dancing suggestively, nothing could be as awful as her dancing when Marc Anthony sang at last year’s American Idol finale! We didn’t find out till later that they were divorcing, which made me appreciate her acting ability a lot more than I ever had”

Oh yeah, that was creepy to me. It wouldn’t have bugged me if it was just a dancing show, but the fact that she was a judge and in a position of authority…doing the booty dance just gave me the willies. Seemed so degrading, though I’m sure she and all the men watching enjoyed it. Cracked me up seeing her soon to be ex-husband grimacing at her.

He’s obviously not as good an actor as she is an actress, LOL!

I wonder what the American Idol finale will look like this year. Last year was my first one and practically everyone but the dead Beatles seemed to be on the show! I was pretty impressed…

Don’t know if anyone watched the after the show footage with the judges on stage with Hollie. They were giving her pretty pointed advice about how to make it in the business (choose good songs, for example). Looks like they feel she has a chance to be a success in the business…

I was talking to an old L.A. friend last night who has been in the entertainment business for a long time. Apparently, rumor on the street is that the Idol judging panel is being considered for a big overhaul, with 1 or 2 (almost definitely Jennifer Lopez) leaving. Replacements being considered Jimmy Iovine and Ben Folds, and a couple of others. Interesting possibilities!

I would LOVE for Jimmy Iovine to be a regular judge! He gives the most honest and helpful critique every time. It’s the one I look forward to. The rest are bias fluff. It would be great to get his feedback in ‘real time’ and not have to wait until results night. I’m sure that’s so he can’t influence voters.
