America's Got Talent, American Idol, XFactor, etc.

Not sure Ben Folds would be a suitable replacement for J.Lo since he seems to sugarcoat many of his critiques the same as J.Lo. Agree that Jimmy I. would be great. There was also talk today that Stevie Nicks may be a possibility.

I LOVE Jimmy I–but does anyone else think he hasn’t looked well this season?

Yes, Jimmy has lost a bunch of weight this past year.
I would miss having him be the coach- he does such a good job with that…

The judging jobs are starting to remind me of Hollywood Squares!

I’d put my money on Jessica to leave tomorrow night.

Phillip KILLED his first song. I will buy it for sure. Thank you Phillip for singing something current!

Sometimes I don’t get it. They are trying to find a “new” American IDol yet they are choosing songs like Imagine, I’ll Be There and Bob Segur that are 40+ years old???

Round 1 was definitely Philip’s. Still watching it on the west coast

I wish the judges would provide more real critique to the contestants. They go gaga over Joshua’s version of the Etta James song and it was obvious Joshua had no clue the depth of heartbreak that song should convey. He sang it just like any other song rather than as man who is going crazy seeing his love with someone else

Same with Jessica. I thought her version of the Mariah Carey song was absolutely dreadful

I’ve been voting for Joshua all season long but tonight I’m voting for Phil Phil. In round 2, the “contestant’s song choice,” I thought PP had a fantastic performance. I haven’t a clue as to why the judges decided to give him mediocre feedback. Combined with round 1, it was one of his better performances of the season.

I agree with abasket, Jessica sang herself out of the final. Joshua and PP in the final, and I would not be a bit surprised if PP was the winner. Similar to Lee Dewyze as the paint salesman, the pawn shop worker wins this time around.

Did you notice that PP’s dad carries a gun???

I listened to the show tonight since my W had it on. I almost had to mute it whenever Joshua was singing. I can’t stand that screaming style of singing and every one of his songs sound the same - all just screaming. I don’t understand why the judges like it at all. I guess music is in the ear of the beholder.

Current?? Beggin’ is an old Frankie Vallie and Four Seasons song!! (or maybe that dates me…)

Between his first and last songs, Phillip Phillips really did a great job tonight. I think Jessica will be gone, but I did like the Aerosmith song she did. I can’t believe that Steven Tyler actually sang that song…

I loved watching all the home town visits, especially when the 3 finalists finally get hit with a wave of emotion and amazement that so many people are their fans. It’s similar to when I watch the Olympics and they tell a story about an athlete and all their hard work, and then that athlete medals and it’s all worth it.

I definitely like PP and Joshua tonight. They’re so different that I don’t have a favorite, but if they toured together they would rake it in bigtime. Jessica did some fine covers once again, but I still didn’t feel any additional value add other than a great mimic of the original singers. I did like her Michaal Jackson cover … it seemed just right for her age and she sang it well.

p.s. Yes, my H also noticed PP’s father wearing a gun. I guess that’s life int he pawn shop business!

“Beggin” was more recently redone by Madcon - that’s what I remembered. And, I think Phil’s performance was very ready for TODAY’s music.

Jessica didn’t scream–I was happy about that. I think she blew her first song, and sounded out of breath and had a hard time with her lower register. She has a great voice and, hey, Tommy Mottola wants to sign her. She needs life experience and a HS diploma… I loved PP. Josh has a gorgeous voice I think, but PP is more my style.

Agree that I could definitely see PP making a good living as a musician, right now. I hope the stuff he writes for himself is good…

LMNOP-when they announced “Beggin’” by Madcon, I thought WTH? That’s a Frankie Valli song! I do think that PP is a great musician.

I still think that PP is the one who actually will have an audience that will buy his music.

I can’t figure out who would buy music by Jessica or Joshua. I was glad that Jessica didn’t scream this week, but really thought she didn’t perform that well. I have never been a big fan of Joshua although he has talent.

momof3sons–a woman of my own generation…

I think Joshua is wonderful to watch performing. He’s a real throwback to an earlier generation.

I’m older than both of you!:)

While I can’t stand Joshua, I do know he has a talented voice. I do not know however, who he would “be”. My opinion is that he would do well on Broadway - he seems to have that skill to “be the song” and then shut off when he is done singing.

Glad to see and hear P2 back up to speed the last 2 weeks. I think he has the most obvious path to a viable career. He sounded great last night.

Joshua could take that old school vibe and make something of it, if he (or somebody else) has the imagination to find the right music. I’m thinking off-hand of someone like Brian Setzer. As long ago as the Stray Cats, and then again with his orchestra, he made rockabilly and swing sound new.

Jessica just leaves me lukewarm. I fast forwarded through her trip home.

I guess I’m still the only one who doesn’t get the PhilPhil love. Every song still sounds the same, doesn’t matter what they give him, he still manages to fit it in his three note range. Can’t remember anything he does. Of course, Jimmy did force him to actually attempt to sing out of that three note range with the last song, he did a decent job of that while struggling to get those extra two notes. Cracked me up that he got high praise for actually singing a song fairly normally. I will never get it, I honestly don’t even know how he made it past Hollywood week!

Now obviously he has a more real and appealing personality than the other two. But just doesn’t compare in terms of talent. It is interesting that the top 3 are so different. I like Jessica, but I can’t believe she had the balls to sing an Aerosmith song that Steven Tyler did so “beautifully” to use his constant wording…in this round. Sounded good, but big mistake, I think.

I’m in the Phillip camp and pretty much always have been. Glad to have some companions! If you love gospel, you love Joshua (and I do like him)… but it’s that same spin on everything. Phillip may put his style onto everything, but it’s his style. I personally love it. Jessica is just a belter, and belting does not equal getting the correct emotion. Most of the time.

They all three have great voices, but Phillip is the only one I would recognize in a “blind” listen.
