Have you seen the X factor make overs? The last girl that they went back and got, Melanie? Doesnt even look like the same person!

I saw them flash a picture of her … they gave Melanie a great hair-do, so that should boost her confidence after the initial Simon reject.

Which girls got voted off? Our channel switched to the news before the show ended.

Still love Josh and Melanie the best.

I really don’t like two of the girls that Simon raves about. He was being really witchy (with a b) to Paula and Nicole because they don’t like the one girl, but I completely agree with them!

The remaining girls are: Melanie, Drew (the 16 year old), and Rachel (the 13 year old)

Thank you.

Those were the 3 I liked, but I didn’t expect Simon to let those other 2 go after the way he was being so obnoxious to the other judges about them! I didn’t like either of them at all.

I agree with the remaining girls and the over 30s. Pretty much indifferent about the groups, although the 4 girls did well and are gorgeous. The only boy I like is Marcus (???the last one who sang). My favorites are Josh, Melanie and Drew. I am sooooo glad Simon got rid of those two girls. Maybe it was my tv (or my old ears), but on most of the acts, the backgrounds totally covered up the lead vocal.

This round was predictable. The next one will be a little harder but there seems to be an obvious weak link in each group. End is near for the little rapper, the adorable young girl, the group of ten, and the Diana Ross wannabe. In the end, it will be the burrito guy against Simon and his girls.

So did Dakota Rain - or whatever that gosh awful name is - stay? I missed the show but am rooting for them because of a local girl in the group.

Was quite happy with Simon’s picks - both of the two now gone annoyed the heck out of me. Love that Leroy and Josh are in the over 30’s. Stacey can go next, imho. The groups… I don’t really enjoy what any of them are now doing. I liked the Brewer Boys, but I realize that’s just my own personal quirk. As to the “Boys”, I’m not thrilled with any of them. The little rapper seems to me to be quite talented, but the genre doesn’t appeal to me at all. I like Marcus but I don’t love him. I do like Chris Rene, but not in love with tonight’s performance.

I’m figuring the producers instigated all of the snarkiness among the judges. It just seemed trumped up to me and out of sync most of the time… done for effect.

Yes… Dakota Rayne stayed.

The sound quality of tonight’s show was just awful as musicmom mentioned, but it seemed especially bad when the backup dancers were involved. Thought the backup dancers and the flashing lights were a big distraction and seemed to doom any performance that contained it.

Why not let Philip sing a song in his genre and show what kind of artist he is? If the decision was already made ahead of time that he wasn’t going to make the cut, the country singer should have stuck around and not been sent home last week.

The lead singer of the Stereo Hoggz is absolutely amazing and their group performance tonight was awesome! I liked Intensity and Lakoda Rain as well. Except for the Brewer Boys performance, thought Paula did a really good job!

I will be disappointed when Leroy goes home (especially if he goes before Stacy), but there’s probably not room for TWO soulful, smokey male voices, with Josh and Leroy, in the over-30’s.

I didn’t like Simon’s song choice and performance for Rachel. I don’t see her winning this competition but I do see her on Broadway someday.

I’m wondering if sending Melanie home last week, then going to her house in Florida to ask her back, then naming Melanie LAST tonight in the girls category tonight, is just Simon’s strategy to add some suspense and drama to his new show? She’s been one of my favorites from the get-go. I’ve never heard anyone her age with such a rich, dynamic, and controlled voice.

I also liked the Brewer Boys, but I spent years around that kind of music, so I get it. I am indifferent about the groups because I like them all equally well. They are all very different, though, so I find it hard to judge one against another. Sock-monkey girl was so pitchy that I almost feel like she was “planted” in the show just for effect–someone for the judges to argue about. I do feel the judges’ interaction tonight was very contrived. Oh well, I guess it worked–it got us talking about the show!

After sitting through the entire 2 1/2 hours last night, I am not sure there is enough talent left for me to continue watching. It just feels like another American Idol process now, with another winner that fades into obscurity. I really like Josh, but I can’t think of anyone else that is so ‘wow’ that they will become the next superstar.

I always seem to like the quirky ones with the less ‘pure’ voices, as I like more of a rough/authentic feel to my music (ie Crash Test Dummies, Ray LaMontagne, etc). I’ll probably continue watching just to give it the benefit of the doubt for the first season, but I’m not sure if XFactor is anything different from American Idol.

Since I missed last Sunday, can someone fill me in on the ‘wierd twist’ from last week that brought Melanie back? (I do like her a lot.)

I like the burrito guy…

Which songs has he been singing?

I thought the same thing, about her and/or the student from UCLA (Simone?). Maybe why Simon also got the extra girl in the ‘making a mistake’ scene. All of it seems entirely orchestrated…they aren’t even that good at their conflict script.

I like Leroy, Josh and Drew. Rachel is adorable and so talented for her age, and I agree with LA she should/could be an actress, but not sure I would listen to her album per se.

Do not like the groups. Lakota Rain is gorgeous but the whole group thing feels contrived and just doesn’t work for me as a listener.

That was the weird twist.

He sent her home (which was crazy because she was so much better than the 2 that got sent home last night). Then he was like “oh my God, I’ve made a huge mistake”. Then he went to Florida and invited her back.

It does indeed that this show is entirely scripted – and rather poorly IMHO. From the moronic naked man incident that sent Paula to her TAPED bathroom interlude to the judges “nasty” comments to the “mistake” by Simon, this all sounds gimmicky. And this does not even addresses how untalented and annoying people made it through (Simon’s two girls, the James Brown and Diana Ross over-the-hill copycats.

Just as the Voice show with Aguilera, this one has lost steam rapidly. One difference is that the judges and the singers were a lot more interesting than in X Factor.

I thought the top 12 should have been able to choose their own songs and not have their fate rest in the mentor’s hands.

Stereo Hogzz is my favorite group, mainly because of lead singer Lance’s voice.

Leroy has a really good voice but doesn’t connect well with the audience.

Did not like Rachel’s song choice. Simon has not been doing her any favors of late, as her mentor.

Simon was right on the money about Lakoda Rayne’s outfits. Very prom-ish and the color variations also detracted from the performance.

I like Josh but really didn’t like the song Nicole picked for him. Were the judges just insuring that he be kept around by their overly lavish praise?

Melanie can sing any song beautifully. She also looked amazing.

Astro started out strong but didn’t finish that well.

Drew may have the most pop appeal of any of the acts. She really has a unique, quirky quality that is growing on me. I hope she can play an instrument because I think that will only improve her performances in the coming weeks.

Intensity was kind of a mixed bag for me. Didn’t like the blond kid who sang the second or third solo, but liked the hip-hop kid a lot.

Marcus was actually pretty good tonight.

Stacy had one of the night’s best performances. I still like her best BEFORE she hits “overdrive” and loses her tone quality.

I think Simon gave Nicole great advice for Stacy to sing “church music” but also gave one of his own singers, Rachel Crow, one of the WORST songs of the night to sing… and she may be going home as a result.

I watched the early audition rounds for X Factor, but haven’t watched since those picked went with their mentors into their homes. This is the first night that I watched and I missed the first 3 contestants.

I was surprised at how good all the singers were! I would hate to have to choose one to go home.

I liked Rachel, although I have to agree with Nicole that it made no sense to change the words to the song! Maybe it’s because that song always makes me smile.

I liked the Lakoda Rayne outfits/prom dresses. I thought the season thing was lame, but it didn’t really affect the song. Their harmonies were fabulous, I thought!

I wish the hairy, unkempt guy would clean up his appearance–because his voice is really something. I didn’t know the song he did, although it sounds like it was a big hit in the past couple of years.

Melanie and Stacy were just AWESOME!

Drew–great voice and it sounds like she is more than just a pretty voice–she has real opinions about what she wants her music to sound like. I wish she wouldn’t crinkle up her nose when she smiles, though. Ouch!

The mega-group was uneven, although I liked their song selection. Very party time!

As I said, I don’t know who I would send off tomorrow.

Does this mean that we’ll have 11 MORE weeks of this show before they crown a winner?

Hairy guy sang Jars of Hearts by Christina Perri.

This scripted show continues to be predictable. Best singers get weird choices of songs. Two bottom contestants and one to be saved by the judges.

Seems like the church singer bought herself a couple of weeks. More twitter lying about her career is expected before letting her go. Not a week too soon, IMHO. in the meantime, it looks like poor Chris and Leroy will have a hard time avoiding the bottom votes. The Disney kids and the Four Seasons can breathe in harmonious relief, until the next show.

This thing will limp along until the only three real contenders emerge.

I tend to agree with the above 3 posters on nearly all of your points. Can I just add that Melanie will be a star regardless … she looks and sounds the part and there wasn’t a note that I disliked. Some of the others had great overall performances, but I have to overlook an awkward movement or a strange note or harmony here or there. Not with Melanie, she just nails it.

On the young rapper … can I just say enough? He’s like someone’s kid at a party that has been asked to perform, so he does his juvenile rap and everyone applauds. Until he shows he can sings, I think he is just a novelty act. The other guy that can rap can also sing beautifully, so he’s the full package, even if he still needs some polishing. The Astro attitude annoys me and I think they are just placating him by letting him write his own raps because they hope he will attract tweenie-boppers and that will make them a lot of money. I’m not judging harshly because I don’t like rap … I actually really appreciate someone that can rap and tell a story. This kid is pumping up the crowd with the same phrase over and over again, and the self-promoting is too annoying for me.
