America's Got Talent, American Idol, XFactor, etc.

Okay, now I’ll comment since the West Coast folks have viewed.

 1. Rachel was the bomb. So happy for her.
 2. Melanie is still the bomb. Just give her a record deal already.
 3. I was an Astro-Not, but he did really well last night. Definitely talented, but I’m not yet an Astro-Naut.
 4. Drew … did not like. Same style and voice 3rd week in a row. And while she did design that dress, she needs to focus more on her singing and doing a different type of song or she’s in danger. (BTW, the dress and hair did not help, especially with the fake wind blowing)
 5. Dakoda Rayne (stupid spellling) but they aced their pop-country song
 6. Stacy or LeRoy may be in danger, but I’d go to see them if they came to my town.
 7. Stereo Hoggz … not sure about them … I like them, but they’re starting to look a little manufactured and they need to get back to the core of who they are.
 8. Chris Rene … like him, too bad Astro had a good night.
 9. If I forgot anyone else there weren’t memorable enough yet.

You didn’t think Josh was memorable? I thought he was amazing last night. (though I really did not like the rather odd back up dancers).

Rachel was just incredible. How does that cute bubbly little girl switch on all that soul when she sings.

Melanie was great as usual.

I can’t get on board the Astro fan train. He just seems sooooo full of himself that it completely turns me off.

Stacey is really going downhill for me. And Drew (who I like a lot) seems to manage to make every song sound like the same song.

“I can’t get on board the Astro fan train. He just seems sooooo full of himself that it completely turns me off.”

But I think that is at the core of what much of rap is. It has a LOT to do with convincing people of your confidence. It’s even in the lyrics! That kid being able to pull that off in this context, and how hard he works at that age (when other kids are doing what? Practicing math sets? Ha ha ok, maybe not funny), is what I like about him.

Is it 2 that go to the bottom? I’m thinking Stacy and either Stereo Hogzz or Drew. Since Stacy and Drew had a good week last week, the judges probably send Stereo Hogzz home leaving only one group left in the competition. Does that seem like a likely scenario?

I hope you are correct. And if it happen to be that little obnoxious rapper, that would work great as well.

Brian Bradley (Astro) is the ****, 'nuff said.

“that little obnoxious rapper”

Oh, snap!

I don’t think Astro is obnoxious. Well, I did the first week, but after watching him grow over the past few weeks, I don’t think you can call his attitude: obnoxious. I think it’s more a strong determination and a self confidence in his abilities that makes him tick. He wants this and he’s willing to work his a** off to reach his dream. I think it’s a very admirable and refreshing quality to see in a 14 year old.

That was terrible. I had to mute my TV during the first competitor singing to survive tonight. 2nd was much better.

I did forget about Josh, and I do LOVE his voice, but his facial looks while singing made me scared, so I must tuned him out of my memory. I like the shy, humble Josh who didn’t know how much we liked his voice. He is still trying to figure out what bluesy image to project and I hope he gets it right next week.

LOL. I must admit, I thought his facial expressions were a little terrifying last night.

First impressions last. Did not care for him then, and not now.

I wonder if we can speedforward next week because the public will peel the groups one by one. Perhaps they want to put Paula out of her misery. Will she be less hysterical without any group in the competition?

Gosh so boring to sit through that dreadful results show just to get rid of one group…

Will this really go on now for 9 more weeks!?

Any comments about Willow Smith?

I’ll tell you mine … if all it takes to be famous or to be called an artist is to have rich parents to throw money at you (to get the best outfits, stage setup, and rehearsal time) then the rest of the world of talented artists are doomed. I hope young kids like her because I was not impressed with her singing or dance moves. Mom and Dad Smith, I think you are pushing her out into the public eye too fast.

I still think Josh has potential to be amazing with a little clean up and teeth whitening (not too much). His “At Last” was a jazz standard done right when he first auditioned.

starbright, Do you have a DVR so you can pre-record and then fast forward?

Like many of you, I’m really surprised that Lakoda Rayne was in the bottom two. It just goes to show you how unpredictable the voting can get at times. Maybe there aren’t enough country fans voting, or the country fans don’t like cross-over groups.

Snowflake, I just got my teeth whitened today, for the first time ever. My mouth is killing me but I look much better (according to my wife who made the appointment).

With regard to Willow Smith, I’ve seen better at our local middle school talent shows. It may be that she’s at an awkward age. Her brother seems to be a natural.

Was Willow on X factor?

Willow was a guest. Not that it stopped Paula from doing all the weeping.

jshain, wow, you had a makeover! Send your dentist’s info to Josh. All singers should have amazing looking mouths.

I have stopped watching the ‘results’ shows, and just turn it on at the last minute to see who was cut. Saves me the agony of sitting through fluff just for the last 2 minutes.

I love country, but Lakota Rain (sp) is excruiatingly boring. I guess I like my country to have more grit to it.

My guess is the top two will be Astro and Rachel. Everyone over 30 will be eliminated, the groups will be eliminated and they will be down to the two that LA Reid and Simon feel can be the next big thing.

As a mother, I’m just concerned that Rachel is allowed to sing the songs that are clearly more adult. Doesn’t it seem strange for a 14 year old to be singing the songs she is singing? I admit, I love her voice, but it feels creepy to hear her singing those words.
