What a game! “Ya gotta believe!”
I wasn’t feeling hopeful when it went to extra innings, and especially when Toronto scored in the 11th, but somehow they pulled it out.
Note to Mets braintrust–do NOT ask Familia to throw back to back four out saves, especially when he has a newborn at home.
Bullpen’s going to be a mess–hope Harvey’s back to Harvey-Day form tonight.
Syndergaard was a beast after the first inning. It would have been fun to see Dickey up against him if the rotation timeline had been different. And Cecil? One strike, buddy, one strike.
They need to find someone else they trust in the bullpen. They can’t overuse Familia, especially this early in the season.
Alwaysamom–I think everyone would have loved a Dickey-Thor match-up. I hope Dickey has a great year every game but Thursday! It’s so nice to have him back in NYC.
Shellfell–well, Mejia will be well-rested.
Not sure I want him back. Hopefully Parnell will regain his old form soon.
So, anybody else hear about the St. Louis Cardinals hacking into the Astros computer network? Can access scouting reports, trade talks and all kinds of confidential info. FBI is investigating. Ruh roh. Might just be someone(s) seeking revenge against a former Cardinals exec now with the Astros. Didn’t seem like the most popular guy.
I think it’s hilarious!
It would be hilarious if the Astros allowed the Cardinals to access all the data prior to this … last year. Or do we expect the Cardinals to look at the Astros for a roadmap NOT to follow?
@garland , I don’t know if you saw last night’s game but Dickey was excellent and got the win. His dad passed away on Tuesday but he wanted to stay and pitch against his old team. He is now on bereavement leave.
I was listening (no television access this week.) I’m happy for him (my team sounded awful). I hadn’t heard about his dad–that’s sad, but typical of RA to do his job first.
So the Mets designate Dillon Gee and give his number away immediately. Pretty tacky treatment.
That’s my A-Rod!
You are welcome to him!
Scherzer – the two best consecutive games ever pitched. He was a man possessed. And phooey on the Buc who leaned it to get hit in the bottom of the 9th.
Yankee fans and Arod–a match made in heaven.
@ countingdown- That ump is a moron, the rule books clearly state that a player who leans into a pitch or doesn’t try to duck, is not considered hit by a pitch if the ball hits him. The player clearly ducked into it, but sadly baseball rules don’t allow those kinds of rulings to be overturned. Jim Joyce when he blew the out when Galaraga had his perfect game lost at least had the humanity to admit he was wrong, he was upset, wonder if that moron will be a typical prima dona umpire and say he did the right thing. As far as the batter goes, if it looks like he ducked into the pitch deliberately, the next time Washington plays that team someone should go after him for being a slimeball. That is just cheap, if he tried to break up a perfect game by getting hit by a pitch which is what it looked like to me.
Yeah, I expect that batter will find out what it’s like to be hit with a fastball tomorrow.
And in other news my team finally fired their hitting coach and hired Edgar! Maybe there’s hope after all.
