Quote:The change, which will take effect during the 2008-09 admissions cycle, makes the school one of just eight colleges and universities in the United States to offer such a consideration to applicants from other countries.

Are there really only eight colleges and universities in the US that offer need-blind admission? Kind of thought there were more…most of the ivies etc…

yep, only 8, for international students: Harvard Yale Princeton Dartmouth MIT Williams Middlebury Amherst. Only HYPD are need-blind among the Ivies.

News update, Dartmouth is going to revert to a need based policy from next year onwards… I guess one in another out. So we’re still stuck with only 8 institutions that have a need blind admissions policy towards internationals. Sigh!

i doubt dartmouth would do that…they probably thought hard before changing to need-blind for international students so they wouldn’t just revert back so quickly

Yes , it is true about dartmouth. It will be need-blind for international student.

"On January 22, Dartmouth President James Wright announced a major new financial aid initiative, designed to keep Dartmouth accessible to academically talented students regardless of their financial situation and which will extend the College’s need-blind admissions program to all international students as well.
