My mom said years ago that adopting all the kids was really an selfish act and didn’t have anything to do with loving kids.
I used to argue but now I would agree.
And how would your mom or you know that? “All the kids” = four. How many children do you have? Was that a selfish act?
You’re right. We may never know.
However, my understanding is that Pitt wants to live in LA, where there is work for him. (And given the difference in the income tax rates, it is highly unlikely that Pitt wants to trade US residency for French or British residency.). As far as I know, both Jolie and Pitt are California residents. After all, that’s where she filed for divorce and where she and the kids and Pitt are all living now. A California judge is unlikely to care whether she wants to live in the UK or France. Either would interfere with Pitt’s relationship with his AMERICAN kids. While I know nothing about this case in particular, American judges are by and large quite reluctant to allow a parent, particularly an American citizen parent, to move their kids overseas over the non-custodial parent’s objections.
Jolie is not going to be able to teach a course in London and be home in LA for the weekend to see her kids. (Jolie and Pitt own a home in France, but it’s not their principal residence as far as I know.)
While I don’t purport to know a thing, I am sure there are LOTS of issues in their marriage. I am NOT saying that the failure of their marriage is all Jolie’s fault. I am not even saying it’s mostly her fault or even partly her fault. I have no knowledge whatsoever.
I am ONLY saying that I think whatever happened on the plane did not cause this divorce. She’d already rented another house in LA for herself and her kids, which Pitt apparently did not know about. The divorce papers were undoubtedly already drawn up. I suspect that she wants to live in Europe. I also suspect that a divorce attorney would have told her that most judges would be reluctant to allow that over Pitt’s objections, UNLESS he was an unfit parent. Maybe he is; I don’t know. However, I think it’s more likely that she wants to be able to live in Europe and knows that to reach that goal, she has to convince a court he shouldn’t be given equal physical custody. If he is, those kids aren’t moving to Europe–not the UK, and not France.
Oh my goodness, there is SO much projection and conjecture on this thread
No one here- unless we happen to have some very close friends of the Jolie-Pitts and even then…- knows about their lives. All we know is what is put into public and even that goes through SO MANY lenses and filters that it’s almost certainly several degrees removed from the truth.
I know people who are written about in tabloids. Comes from having too many family members in the entertainment industry. If there is ANYTHING I’ve learned from that, it’s that NO ONE ever knows the story.
Good grief.
No one knows what happened between them, but some of us do know divorce laws (Jonri) and also know what some parents would do to have custody of their children, so it wouldn’t be so hard to do some projections or figure out people’s motives.
No one cares about the story (the fight on the plane). People are just speculating on why it was escalated to the authority one the eve of their divorce. I am sure it wasn’t the first time those two had fought in front of the children.
Oh, and BTW, three of the kids were adopted. Jolie gave birth to the other 3, including the two youngest, who are twins,
Four kids adopted.
From Wikipedia:
Maddox Chivan Jolie-Pitt

Pax Thien Jolie-Pitt

Zahara Marley Jolie-Pitt

Shiloh Nouvel Jolie-Pitt
female, born May 27, 2006 (age 10), in Swakopmund, Namibia
Shiloh is her biological child but she chose to give birth in Namibia.
Shiloh was born abroad but is their biological child.
So all the children have at a minimum dual citizenship and if they did not file the paperwork in the U.S. their birth country could be their only citizenship. Although lately they have been spending a lot of time in California I always thought their main residence for many years was the chateau in France. So they might have qualified for French citizenship as well.
Jolie is a dual citizen of the U.S. and Cambodia.
I believe their main mega mansion is in LA and it was put up for sale this past week. Angie and the kids rented a home in LA @ about $100k/mo and near the ocean. I read that yesterday on the internet so it must be true. I don’t know if Brad gets any of the houses or if he’s couch surfing.
I never liked Jolie. She’s always preaching about taking the high road and helping people, the environment, the poor, but she has something like 7 homes. Her Cambodian adoption was suspect. Right at that time, the US stopped allowing adoptions from Cambodia, but let those in process continue. I don’t think hers was in process, but somehow she got to the front of the line, was allowed to adopt as a single woman even though she was married (this is not allowed by the USCIS). The claims were that she’d have to spend 2 years in Cambodia before she could bring him to the US but a miracle occurred and she was allowed to bring him to the US by way of another country. All very shady and hurts foreign adoptions for everyone when people break the rules. The Viet Nam adoption also seemed to happen much faster than normal, close in time to the birth of her child.
And that’s not to mention kissing her brother on the lips on one of the awards shows and saying she was ‘so in love with him’ and the vial of blood and the tattoos down her arm. She hired a hit man to kill her, she tried to commit suicide, she’s divorced twice. Those things don’t stop adoptions but usually slow them down a big. She’d never HELD a baby until she held Maddox. Yep, I’m sure she breezed right through that home study. Of course she had Billy Bob to help.
She’s beautiful, but she’s weird
She hired a hit man to kill someone??
The House of Lords thing is quite silly. No government is going to nominate an American actor for a peerage shortly after she could become a citizen in maybe 5 years time, the public uproar would be deafening. And even if she got in, it is not a very good route into actively influential politics.
[quote]
Unlike the elected House of Commons, all members of the House of Lords (excluding 92 hereditary peers elected among themselves) are appointed. The membership of the House of Lords is drawn from the peerage and is made up of Lords Spiritual and Lords Temporal. The Lords Spiritual are 26 bishops in the established Church of England. Of the Lords Temporal, the majority are life peers who are appointed by the monarch on the advice of the Prime Minister, or on the advice of the House of Lords Appointments Commission. However, they also include some hereditary peers including four dukes./quote
^^ Is it a crime to hire a hitperson to kill yourself?
Very few countries offer citizenship to everyone born there. Namibia certainly doesn’t. https://www.cia.gov/library/publications/the-world-factbook/geos/wa.html Neither does France. https://www.cia.gov/library/publications/the-world-factbook/geos/fr.html (The twins were born there.) And, just living in France does not make any of the kids French citizens. To the best of my knowledge none of the three biological kids have any basis for claiming anything but American citizenship.
I don’t know the citizenship status of the adopted children.
That’s not really the issue here. The issue is the kids’ “habitual residence,” Maybe it’s France, but I doubt it. It certainly isn’t the UK. So, if Jolie packed up the kids and took them to the UK, the UK would return them to the US (or France if it is the habitual residence) pursuant to the Hague Convention. See https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hague_Convention_on_the_Civil_Aspects_of_International_Child_Abduction
It certainly isn’t very green to be flying a private jet instead of commercial.
Where do the teens go to school?
Homeschooled
Supposedly in her early 20s she hired a hit man to kill herself but called it off.
