<p>Anybody watch the golden globes? I’m annoyed b/c I’m really into reading movie reviews now and see how accurate they are (they’re usually pretty accurate) and movies that, IMHO, shouldn’t have won, did win <em>cough</em>Dreamgirls<em>cough</em>Babel*cough. i didnt see forest whitaker or helen mirren but i heard that mirren’s performance in “the queen” was great. havent read the review of “king of scotland” nor have i seen it. personally i wanted will smith to win (and that kinda goes against the reviews but i thought his performance in “the pursuit of happyness” was awesome!). what did y’all think? i dont watch “ugly betty.” did dnayone who does think that it deserved the merits it received?</p>
<p>one other thing: the acceptance speeches. Two of the most brilliant people there - sacha baron cohen and meryl streep - gave brilliant speeches. Warren Beatty’s speech for accepting the Cecile B. Demille Award was plain awful (I cringed when he randomly said “weewaweewa. I am from Kazakhstan.” and io love when Cohen started his speech he corrected Beatty “Wawaweewa!”). Thoughts, anyone?</p>
