Just felt it a couple of minutes ago here in San Diego. Felt like being in a mildly rocking boat. It was strong enough and lasted long enough to get the dogs barking and to get me up and moving toward the door. And some of the dishes rattled in the kitchen.

I hope there wasn’t damage or injuries elsewhere.

Yes - it was a really long one with a lot of window rattling. It’s funny, my dog was outside and let out a bark in a location where he doesn’t usually bark and I was just starting to walk to the deck to see what was up when I felt and heard the quake. I think he noticed it before me.

Even felt it here in the Phoenix area. Just sort of a weird shaking feeling – also some definite swaying of the wind chimes and sloshing of the pool water onto the kool decking.

Coureur and all of you: I hope the scare was not too big.

I experienced an earthquake many, many years ago. We were dining when felt the table moving…we keep asking each other to stop moving the table…and we laughed until we look up and saw the lamps moving side to side. Everyone ran outside…

They’ve upgraded it to a 7.2. Still no word on damage in Mexico. I felt it in the Hollywood area, very long. Knew it was a big earthquake somewhere.

I was driving. Didn’t feel it. My family did and the cat was apparently freaked out.

Did feel a small aftershock in the store in a wine section. I heard a rattle but didn’t feel it. Just figured someone was taking a bottle off the shelf and was being careless.

A family member in San Diego area felt it - said it felt big. Really big.

First earthquake I ever experienced- it was pretty exciting, kind of like a bumpy ride in a 4WD vehicle or maybe some really old and rickety amusement park ride. 30 seconds of intense shaking, then 30 seconds of gradually diminishing stuff. Tables and chairs rattled as did stuff on the walls, but I didn’t see anything fall (here in San Diego). 3 aftershocks felt here so far, none too strong.

Twitter pics showing some crevices formed in Mexicali and stuff knocked off the shelfs, but nothing catastrophic so far. USGS.gov as usual has excellent coverage and plenty of neat maps.

My D felt it here just south of Santa Barbara. I was downstairs in the kitchen and didn’t even notice the pots on the pot rack and the chandelier in the dining room swaying!

Yeah, CalTech had a press conference. Dr. Lucy Jones was saying that an earthquake this size will likely trigger earthquakes farther away in the direction the fault ruptured. This fault ruptured northwest, so the earthquakes triggered will likely happen in San Diego, Orange County and LA County. They could be in the 4 to 5 magnitude range. I can’t wait.
