Well, I was starting to feel like I was being entirely selfish. I did not want to hog up the whole dressing young thread with my questions about MOB/SMOB dresses. I figured we just might need a separate category for those of us who are looking for event dressing.

I know it is ridiculously early to be looking - but next year will also be graduation so I might as well see what is available for summer. Besides - what better way to avoid work than by browsing dresses online.

Funny you should ask. That is my concern with the peach. I am fair, some freckles, with dark brown hair. No one is surprised to find out that I am Irish. I am 5’6’', slim, with very broad shoulders - which is why sleeveless or off shoulder looks best.

We don’t have a nordstroms, NM, or anything really upscale close by - I will probably go with your advice to just start ordering and returning - and that’s why I want to get started early.

You’d probably just have to try the peach to see how it works; colors on line can be tricky sometimes. Peach makes me look sickly and tired. Or dead.

I love the 2nd dress…
The first dress is pretty but I don’t love the color. I am fair and irish and I could not wear the peach. I think for a wedding you also need to think how the color will look in the photos. Even with the professional model and photography I don’t love that dress in that color.
I think if you could find the 1st dress in another color it would look beautiful. Likewise I would not have liked the 2nd dress if it was in the peach.

Older DD is the most easy-going person I know. As I mentioned elsewhere, she has chosen purple as the color and gave the girls several examples of cocktail dresses as guidelines. She says no way can one dress ever flatter everyone and they should be free to choose what works for them. Honestly, she is the nicest person.

Well, I could put it aside for my viewing.

Anyway - purple is great, but not great for blending with other colors.

Well, I will do ordering and keep you posted.

This sounds like fun! Now that my friend’s SMOG dress has been purchased, I’m no longer surfing for dresses during looooong conference calls. Let us know what you like and set us loose!

You know what I like best about this group? No one holds back.

Thanks Greenery. I don’t know why, but DH and I haven’t been to a really formal affair for the last three years and I would hate to show up in something that has been duplicated everywhere.

Mafool - pls don’t get a life. I would miss my virtual friend.

My friend recently shared a photo of herself with her significant other. I commented on how glowing she looked in the photo. She said it was the spray on tan. For fancy events she goes and has herself professionally spray tanned. She said if the person is good you look great with no orange tint.

Test out that spray tan ahead of time, though. I have a friend whose tan “transferred” to her lovely white linen sheath one hot summer day. Also, being as fair as you are, be careful to get a believable shade of tan!

Agree about the shutter pleats: they are everywhere and have been for a few years. However, if the style turns out to be unbelievably flattering on you, I’d say go ahead.

But is is too early to settle.

Do you know the setting for the wedding and the reception? Time of day?

My taste runs to the simpler, clean line types of designs. We need to figure out YOUR taste if we are going to team up to make you look incredible.

The wedding is being held in the evening at a museum in DC that rents its facility for such events.

Understated, but elegant.

I do fear the tan rubbing off - DC in the summer - talk about humid. Legs would be one thing - but can you imagine how tacky it would look if there were marks under the armpits?

Like the first one, Greenery, but I am thinking cocktail since the bridesmaids are going short.

Hey - where is North Minnesota and Zetesis - they have weddings, too? Or anyone with a reunion or graduation. This is not just about me, although I really, really appreciate the help.
