Amazing. Just amazing.
This isn’t behind a pay wall:

Sheesh. This Ronan Farrow article has had amazing fallout. He should be the man of the year if I get a vote.
This is the turning point in society for women and harassment. Mike Pence may be the last man standing. He got ridiculed, but it turns out he’s going to be the only one protected from allegations.
I wonder who will be next. I just hope in all of this that it doesn’t swing too wildly the other way where men are getting falsely accused and no way to defend themselves. It’s hard to prove a negative.
Just don’t read the social media comments or you may throw your phone/Computer.
People are more angry and tired of accusations being made than they are of the decades of men harassing and abusing women. So depressing.
I don’t think this thread is the place to discuss false accusations. That implies that the Lauer accusations were false. There is no reason to believe so, and considering he was under contract, much greater reason to believe there is validity in the claims.
Maybe we’re seeing why the article was too hot to publish.
My long boycott of The Today Show is finally over. I wouldn’t watch it as long as Matt Lauer was still on.
I agree this is a turning point and a long time coming.
This one shocks me – would love to know the specifics of the allegations. Honestly thought he was above this sort of behavior.
How do I reconcile my belief that accusers’s complaints must be seriously and fairly evaluated, but that these days some obnoxious conduct is being conflated with predatory and threatening conduct? I guess I will assume there is more to the Lauer, Conyers and Franken situations than simply obnoxious behavior.
I loathe Matt Lauer and really can’t understand the surprise behind this particular accusation. Maybe it’s just my emotions speaking, but I’m glad he’s gone. Weren’t there multiple rumors about his behavior towards women?
I am not surprised. There were multiple stories I had seen about Lauer having affairs so his making inappropriate advances in the workplace does not shock me
There were rumors of affairs…consensual.
I’m wondering when this gets to the point that only men are invited to a business lunch.
I am stunned. If there were rumors, I had not heard them. DH just expressed how similar this dynamic is to when beloved baseball players were going down one by one for steroid use. It’s so hard to witness the downfall of people you admire & realize they weren’t all that you thought they were.
Who’s next – Santa Claus?
If Tom Hanks or Lin-Manuel Miranda go down, I give up on humanity!
^^ or as I said on the other thread – if I hear something about Barack Obama…
Although if there were sexual harassment allegations about Obama, we’d have heard them by now.
@FlyMeToTheMoon, you weren’t the only one boycotting Today due to ML. I gave it up after the Ann Curry debacle and finally landed on CBS This Morning. Norah O’Donnell is one of the best questioners in the business, IMO, and I like the slightly more serious tone of the show.
