Rock Hudson had all the gadgets in his bachelor apartment in Pillow Talk - dim the lights, close the blinds, lock the door. Doris Day wasn’t fooled for a second and knew to get out of there.
The button is not new.

Most definitely! We just watched him take down Roy Moore’s spokesperson, Janet Porter. It was beautiful to behold. I don’t think she had any idea how ridiculous she looked. I honestly don’t know where these people come from who continue to support this pervert.
The speculation surrounding the button was clarified. The buttons were installed by General Electric years ago when they owned NBC and share office space with them at 30 Rockefeller plaza. The button only prevented people from entering the office but did not lock the office door from the inside. An NBC employee confirmed this.
@dadoftwingirls Our ML @MaineLonghorn will be like Norm with a radiant smile and a warm hello.
As details of the ML roast are coming out, will numerous people change their statements from “I didn’t know” to something new?
or was this just locker room talk?
Particularly disturbing is #1 Eats Curry. The poor woman was so embarrassed.
If there is some truth behind the celebrity roasts I have seen, there are some people out there who will be resigning at some point going forward. The few that I have watched are definitely not for the feint of heart, shy or sensitive.
I think roasts are totally separate things. I’m not going to make that the hill I die on.
Comments at roasts have to be regarded as jokes until proven otherwise. On the other hand, if I were a reporter, I might look at jokes at roasts as hints to where to find offensive behavior.
If I were writing a story about Celebrity X, and he had been roasted with jokes about his misbehavior toward women, I’d probe and ask around. It could be that the “jokes” weren’t jokes at all. On the other hand, the joke about his womanizing could be that he wasn’t chasing women because, as everyone knew, he was a gay man. Or that he was notoriously uxurious, passionately devoted to his wife and no other women.
Hoda Kotb has been officially named as Matt Lauer’s replacement. Apparently NBC realizes the show can survive without a male co-host.
Ratings have gone up since Lauer was fired.
I like her so much and am thrilled by this decision. Almost enough to switch back from CBS.
I’m glad she will also continue with Kathie Lee.
I never watch this show, but I’m wondering how Ms. Hotb pronounces her name. How is it said?
@“Cardinal Fang” Freudian slip?? It is pronounced kot-bee.
Oops. Kot-B. Thanks. (I don’t think “Freudian slip” applies. I’m straight, and anyway I couldn’t identify Kotb in a lineup.)
Interesting, as I was about to post a rant on the Say it here thread that included a local TV journalist butchering her name … among other things.
She used to do local news in my city and she said her name “rhymes with Photo copy”, lol. But there is a bit of a T in the last name.
There is so much irony in the Matt Lauer (whom I liked, actually) story.
First, that NBC was under the impression they needed a male co-anchor, and paid through the nose for a personality who in reality was costing them viewers.
Then there’s the fact that he was let go due to harassing women, is being replaced by a woman (who is likely paid a whole lot less), the show is doing great in the ratings, and NBC is actually saving money in all of this…
I bet NBC has fifty reasons why his female replacement should be paid much less than he was. Because companies always have fifty reasons why men should be paid more than women.
Hoda is a natural and I think she’ll do well in this new position. I actually like her much better on the Today Show than I do in the time slot with Kathie Lee.
It might be interesting to see Billie Bush replace Hoda (if she feels she taking on too much with 2 shows and a new baby) in the hour with Kathie Lee since his termination was speculatively influenced by ML.
