How sweet. I liv eextremely close to DFW, but try to fly Southwest out of Love Field whenever I can.

Ten years ago when SWA first started flying out of Manchester, NH, my H was commuting to the DC area (BWI) almost every week and started using SWA instead of flying out of Boston (SWA fare was much cheaper). About six months after he started flying SWA, he received a letter from the CEO thanking him for being such a regular customer on a new route. Enclosed in the letter were two tickets to a Celtics game. (Good seats too!) My sense is that SWA is a company that appreciates its customers and tries to do “good” (as above link suggests).

I love SWA. I managed to fly enough in 2010 (combination of business and personal) to earn A List status AND a companion ticket which is good for my spouse (or anyone else I designate) for a YEAR! Awesome! I had no idea I even was in the running for those things. I also earned a bunch of free tickets along the way.

I also love SWA. I have had nothing but good experiences with them, and I am able to use my free tickets (unlike the points I am unable to use on AA due to the fact that award seats are never available at 25,000 points). If you frequent flyertalk forum, you know that SWA is very candid with the public. It’s refreshing.

rub it in y’all…we can’t get SW here…very moving story though!

rodney, they are expanding to a few locations w/in next year, I hear Burlington, Vermont is on that list, makes me very happy!

We never use any other airline except Southwest unless we are forced to. They are the best.

I read this story and loved it. We used SW the last time we flew and are already planning on using them again, this just makes us want to more…

It pains me to say it – because my father worked for one of the major airlines his entire career – but I also love Southwest. After years and years of dealing with way too many grumpy or surly employees at the major airlines, and the frustrations in working with airline rules and penalties that are draconian, Southwest is a breath of fresh air. The free bags are nice – really nice – but even more important to me is that the Southwest staff seem to be happy that I’m a customer, and committed to working hard to get their jobs done and done well. If they go where I need to go, they’re my goto airline.

We find SWA fabulous for college students whose travel plans are shall we say…fluid?

Besides the car rental and hotel discounts, SWA allows passengers to use the persons sitting next to them as floating devices.

this prompted me to check if SWA had come to Newark, NJ yet. Well, seems that they will begin to fly out of Newark this spring. Yippee!!! That will be wonderful!

I especially love Southwest because we can get to Midway Airport without getting on the highway. And you can go through the attached garage to pick someone up - the hourly parking is right next to baggage claim and it’s free for under 10 minutes ($2.00 for half an hour). And I enjoy the personalized announcements: “We do not expect a change in cabin pressure - if we did, we wouldn’t be on this flight - but in the event…”.

But the ability to change flights without a fee blows the other airlines away.

We are SW fans too. DH has gold status on US Air and some AA miles too (Kelsmom, we actually DID get a one way FREE ticket for DD last summer to fly home from San Diego…15,000 points on an OFF day…we hit it lucky). But SW wins hands down with customer service and ease of changing flights. The baggage “not cost” enabled us to actually GET our kid’s things home from CA without selling the ranch. I like the current boarding way much better than the old “cattle call”…and if we really don’t want to hassle, we pay the extra $10 a ticket to get an A boarding pass…worth it.

I always fly Southwest whenever I can. I’ve been know to fly SW and rent a car and drive 2-3 hours when I could have flown directly. It can be cheaper if you plan ahead. Over the last 10 years, I’ve averaged 4 free tickets a year. We went on family vacations to Vegas twice and LA once. Last year, I earned enough (not just flying but with SW credit card) to get a free companion pass for H. Sure has helped going to visit S. Overnight trips for a concert are now possible.

Number 1 reason I fly SW is that I do NOT like to fly, but I reassure myself that happy employees are paying attention!

I’ve never flown on Southwest but I do remember reading about them as part of a case study in college. The whole thing was about employee morale and how everyone wants to work for Southwest and how they have very very little turnover. They must be doing something right!

I’m a fan too.

Will go out of my way to schedule the kids on SW. Same reasons as those already stated.

In our experience, they have held the plane for some very good reasons. Doesn’t bother me that the flights departed late, when it was to let a bunch of passengers make the connections.

I read that they are buying AirTran [Southwest Airlines Buys AirTran as Consolidation Continues - DailyFinance](<a href=“Stock Portfolio & Tracker - Yahoo Finance”>Stock Portfolio & Tracker - Yahoo Finance) and AirTran flies out of Allentown, PA, my closest airport. I would be SO happy if they would have a Southwest connection here.
Yes, this is the perfect airline for last minute people.

We’ve considered limiting D’s college search to places served by Southwest ;)

Only half kidding…
