Well, in my neck of the woods (southwest Connecticut) this was not a huge deal. It’s maaaaaaaaaybe six inches out there, or maybe only four or so. I can still see the license plates on our cars parked outside. The dogs are having no problems negotiating around. We’ll have to shovel, but it’s not the ten inches I was afraid of.

Still, I’ve been up for an hour and haven’t heard a single car or even snow plow go by. It’s very cold (7 degrees) so I expect the roads are very icy.

S1 used his good judgment last night. He started to drive to a friend’s and then, when the roads were slippery, he came right back home. Hooray for maturity.

Awww, 2016Barnard, that’s a creative doggie!!!

-2 this morning but finally the end of snow and blowing snow - till Sunday when the next storm comes through. ;)

-4 right now here. Feels like -16. Roads still a mess as the salt isn’t doing anything.

My dog refuses to come out from under the blankets. Getting her to go outside this morning is going to be a struggle. She’s a big baby in the cold.

It is -2 at my house but the wind chill makes it feel like -18! We had over 24 hours of snow but I think we only got about 7". My wee dog didn’t have a problem getting off the deck and to the yard. Snow is very powdery.

Now our power is out… I’m going back to bed -.-

S is flying into Boston today. The first leg of his flight is showing on time, the second says delayed and estimated time TBD. Ugh…lost luggage, waiting in airports. Should we try to reschedule?

DS is on a plane between MSP back to mid Atlantic where it is reported 16deg and blowing snow. Not sure if he has much in the way of food in his apt having been home for 2 weeks.

Limewine, I think it depends on where your S is connecting and where the flight he is connecting to was coming from. Try to see if the carrier can tell you where his connecting flight originated. My D’s bf was supposed to fly from Orland to Boston today, Jet Blue allowed him to change his flight to tomorrow without penalty.

Our D flew out of LAX last night around midnight PST and was supposed to land at JFK at 9AM EST. They were diverted to Syracuse and sat for a couple of hours, but she made it to JFK around noon so not too bad. She has a raging sinus infection and was pretty miserable but at least she made it w/o any huge delays!

Tampa got cool last night…it’s in 50s this afternoon and sunny. Tampa airport has lots of flight delays because of bad weather up north…some airlines up to almost half their flights.

East coast all botched up! No flights rescheduled until Tuesday! Ugh!

We decided not to take a chance, rescheduled S’s flight for tomorrow.

Dang. Our flight from Denver to Memphis has been canceled for tomorrow morning. We’ve now been on hold with United for almost two hours trying to book something else. Ugh. So complicated. DD is supposed to fly in from Atlanta and meet us there to visit both sets of grandparents and we are supposed to help with transportation, etc. for my dad’s minor surgical procedure later in the week. Dang. Double dang.

Shy…heard today that because of so many flight disruptions, many airlines are taking to using Twitter to help deal with backlog. Not that I’m a big tweeter/twitter user, but ask you DD! Worth a try! United was one that was mentioned.

My good friend was supposed to be getting in right now. Flew from Portland to Minneapolis to DTW. Her flight to Minneapolis was cancelled and she was originally rescheduled to get in tomorrow at 9 PM but they worked it around so she flew to Minneapolis and now has an 8 hour layover. Yuck!

^^^Yes, yuck, but she’s warm and dry.

All of you with short haired dogs may be hating this, but I have 2 St Bernards and have the opposite problem; they LOVE this weather, so are constantly begging us to take them out, and their walks take FOREVER in this cold weather!

Try having one of each–a Great Pyrenees/St. Bernard mix…and a Chihuahua. My big girl LOVES “outside” in this weather and it seriously cannot be too cold or snowy for her. My tiny guy is, well, miserable (and rightly so because it is dangerous for him). We have been just letting him out in the back and making sure he gets enough exercise chasing toys around the house.

Dropped DH at JFK at 5:30 AM for his 7 AM flight to West Palm Beach for two week vacation, which is what you can do when you are retired. Took him 2 hours to get through security and his plane is on the runway set to take off in about 15 minutes or so… wasn’t especially happy about having to drive home from the airport in 3 degree weather this morning and hope that I don’t have any power problems or another storm while he is away… but at least I told him that he has no deadlines so whenever he gets there, he gets there. Friend’s d with her husband and year old twins and soon to be four year old are doing the reverse flight back from Florida… so far their flight says only delayed by two hours but the day is still pretty early. I told her she can come here with the kids while they wait for the house to warm up enough and they did have someone shovel the walk and driveway yesterday so no worries there. DH said had he left NY at 5 AM when he was up, he would have already been past Washington, DC which is what we do when we drive. Leave around 5 AM, fill up in Jersey and stop for late breakfast around DC
