Another Winter Weekend, Another Winter Storm

We also have lots of tall oaks in our neighborhood. Big storms always drop a tree or three around here.

Our power lines are still above ground, but PEPCO did hard trimming a few years ago, which has reduced how many days we lose power due to a storm.

Forgot that there’s football this weekend! I get lots done with the games on in the background.

Are they still planning to play football tomorrow in Buffalo?

Just checked online – per X four hours ago, Buffalo is paying $20/hr if you bring your shovel to the stadium starting Saturday night at 10pm!

I saw earlier posts that they might move the game to Cleveland.

NFL says…no.

But then what does the NFL expect when they have playoff games in snow zones…in January.

We had 11.8 inches of snow on Tuesday, a couple more Wednesday night into Thursday, and more today. We are close to setting a record of getting the most snow in a week.

We are also having blizzard winds today and our highs over the weekend will be below 0.

Kansas City is basically getting the same weather we are, they are about 3 hours southwest of us. I have heard that their playoff game this weekend will be the coldest on record.

I don’t quite believe it, Buffalo has had some cold weather over the years. And, I don’t really care. Other teams have my interest.

Not a single car wash is open today here in my neck of the woods. A large nursery just sent out an email that they will be closed this weekend due to cold weather :snowflake:  . :scream:

Our neighborhood contracts with a snowplow company because the county cut back on plowing subdivision streets years ago. The guy who plowed for years retired, and our new service apparently doesn’t know how to plow a cul-de-sac. Lots of work ahead for our circle today!

Our plow will do that if we get a large snowfall overnight. They will do one pass so people can get out and then come back and do the rest.

We don’t have a private company but it’s so people who need to get to work can.

We live in a subdivision

Unfortunately, plowing so far from the curb makes it much harder to shovel. The company put up sticks to mark the curb, but they didn’t come close.

H contacted the company by PM on their Facebook page, with hopes that they will return today. Prior to our most recent company, we had a service do this & leave it. It’s a single-track on the wrong side of the road, and it becomes an ice rink.

So far, we have had nothing but rain. We didn’t even get the wind gusts. And now the forecast for Tuesday is maybe an inch of snow.

But what a mess it is out there. So.much.water!

So cold and windy here with light blowing snow.
The ‘kids’, D, SIL, GS, and GD, headed to Colorado for a mini ski vacation. It looks like the travel to the west from Denver is going to be long and slow. I always worry a little when they travel, but feel a bit more anxious today.

Glad we took the time to go out before dark last night and shovel the thick heavy snow/slush off the driveway. With the later rain and then wind (and then falling temps) our driveway is at least mostly ice free. Our neighbor didn’t do anything and theirs is covered in ice now that is going no where.

The weather menu today includes high winds and cold temps - tomorrow winds should die down but temps will drop even further.

I do not do well being stuck inside!

Pouring rain in southern Maine.

In the thirties and windy in SW VA, but no precip this weekend. One inch of snow predicted on Monday. Glad all the VT students will be back before then, because any bad weather creates problems on I81.

It is supposed to be 80 hours of below zero chill factor. It is currently -7 but very very bright and sunny. About an inch of snow on the streets this morning. City doesn’t plow until there are 12" and even then they do a swipe down the center of the residential streets, which doesn’t do much good. The city ‘doesn’t allow’ private plowing of streets, but can’t really do much to stop it since they aren’t out to plow and can’t see who has done the plowing.

Both the KC/Miami game and the Buffalo game are supposed to be frigid. My father went to the Ice Bowl in Green Bay in the 60’s and it was very cold, but the facilities are much better today (heated fields, better clothing) for both the players and the fans.

Currently it is 12 degrees… the syrup in the hummer feeders did not freeze overnight! The little birdies are having their breakfast.

Got around a foot overnight. Snowblower has done its job on the driveway but the street hasn’t been plowed yet.

We have dinner plans with neighbors tonight. Hoping that it gets canceled. Neighbor might not be plowed out yet. :crossed_fingers:

Looks like the playoff game has been postponed! Yikes :scream:

It’s 56 degrees in the Boston burbs, and the rain has passed. We have our windows open. If this is global warming I may be a fan.
