I would not think less of her if she left him and I wouldn’t think less of her if she stayed with him. I feel the same way of Hillary and any of the all-too-numerous political wives who have been in this situation.

ETA: I also think it is good for her to continue her regular duties especially if it gives her reason to travel away from the spotlight. She does not owe it to the public to come out and do interviews on this. I hope the media has the decency to give her some space and privacy, though I’m afraid that is hoping for too much.

I agree, ellemenope, that Weiner’s marriage is probably much less solid than others that have been threatened by scandal. I can’t imagine that his wife knew exactly what he was doing before they were married, and I’m sure she didn’t know that it had continued.

By being set up, I didn’t mean that Weiner engaged in this activity only because women entrapped him. Clearly, he’s been doing it for a long time, and he was aggressive. I just meant that it wouldn’t have been hard for someone with an agenda to get the evidence that would kill his political career. He has been very effective, and a thorn in some people’s sides.

I don’t know whether there is a way to eject him from the House, but it is obvious that he has no support from anyone in the Democratic party, and it will be next to impossible for him to be re-elected if he has a primary challenger.

I agree! I detest Chris Matthews, but honestly, why is there no outrage about his statement?? Are his fans so loyal that they can’t even object to this kind of stupidity?

The x rated pic is out, breitbart was showing Opie and Anthony(radio guys) the pic on his cxellphone, and lo and behold someone got a pic of the picture on cell…without getting specific, this guy needs to resign NOW, and his wife should be packing her bags…for those so inclined g a w k e r has it,though better off not seeing it imho

I agree; resignation within the week. Followed soon thereafter by an announcement that he’s going into rehab for his Internet sex addiction. (Assuming that such rehab programs exist!)

Can you imagine–having either an internet addiction or a sex addiction is bad enough–but to have them BOTH in the same addiction? That’s going to be a toughie…

OK, saw the new photo…ummm, how do you even self-take a photo like that?

Please, Rep. Weiner, leave now with a scrap of dignity…

“I’m hard pressed to understand how anyone – even a man – could deem that this is her fault!!”

Chris Rock blamed Hillary for the whole Monica incident. I was thoroughly unconvinced, though I had to admit it was an extremely funny routine (as usual from CR).

I’ve read that an internet porn addiction can be very hard to break. The only story I’ve read of a fellow who has done it–he was transferred for work reasons to a place where he had no internet access for a year. Once he came back to civilization, he kept his computer in a highly visible location in the house.

Number 1: Are there even places anymore where you can’t get internet service?
Number 2: With smartphones now and not needing a computer to get internet service, staying away from the internet is even more difficult.

I think Chris Matthews should resign alongside Anthony…another moron; probably has pix all over the place also (eeewww, just the thought of that made me cringe after I wrote it)

Is this photographic documentation thing common on a personal basis? I know the sending of this documentation isn’t so common among adults, but is the documenting part a regular thing and I’m just an out of touch old lady?

Yeah, zoos, I think you (and me too) are out of touch old ladies. Lots of younger people of both genders send naked pictures. Sounds crazy to me, but it’s true.

Another out-of-touch old lady here. I will never understand the naked photos.

Another question - I assume that Weiner shaves his chest. He couldn’t possibly be naturally hair-free, could he? What’s with that? Is this something the younger generation does? (Not that he’s quite young enough to be the “younger generation”.)

I read somewhere that some men want women to send them such pictures and assume that if it’s something they want, it is also something women want.

I have to say that I am truly and sincerely shocked. Not just mildly surprised, but hand-on-chest, gape-mouthed shocked. There are photographs of the congressman’s private parts available for all to see. And he made that happen. It’s beyond me.

^^had this exact convo with my immediate family: H (50ish) D1 21 D2 18…the parents kept quiet…

the two girls said that they thought anyone who did this (send naked pictures on ANYTHING) was just gross (and mind you, from my persepctive, neither of them are angels)

I am younger than the congressman by a couple of years and I am an old lady with college-aged children. He is not of the younger generation by any stretch of the imagination.

A young girl texted inappropriate pictures of herself in my community about 3 years ago. It made front page news on our local newspaper, she was kicked out of her Catholic high school for senior year and everyone knew her shame. It was a huge deal. But she was 16 years old, not an adult.

He likely doesn’t shave his chest,he probably waxes…and have never takena pic of myself,i have a hard time figuring out how to use a digital camera. ;)

He will resign the Friday before the July 4th weekend. By the time people get interested in the news after the holiday it will be an old story. I hope he resigns sooner.
