Anthony Weiner

I wouldn’t worry about his wife…by hanging around with Hillary, she likely has ice in her veins

If she listens to Hil’s advice she’ll stand by her man. Set the womens’ movement back 50 years with that.

According to the local news, President Clinton had a call with Representative Weiner on behalf of Ms. Abedin. It’s being played as if he had to explain himself and was put on the hot seat by someone very close to his wife. Weiner considers himself the candidate of the outer boroughs. He comes to every opening day at my son’s little league and just takes over, making it all about him. Frequently does similar things at outer borough events. I hope he stays away. I’m not that amused to have had to explain all this to my son (12) because this guy is around so much and is so familiar. Yes, I’m a prude, but I’m an old lady – I’m entitled to not want to discuss this with my little boy.

I don’t blame you for not wanting to explain this to your son, zm. I have a son the same age. Over a year ago there was an awful scandal at the middle school - worse than anything any of you have ever heard of, and much worse than anything Weiner has done - and all the kids heard about it. It was awful to have to discuss it with my then-10-yo son. My friend, whose son is my son’s best friend, called me sobbing when she heard about it - from her son.

That’s the thing about public figures - I believe that they have an obligation to keep to at least minimal standards of mature and responsible behavior.

I agree that Weiner cannot survive. The only question is when he will stop being the only person on the planet who thinks he can.

If you have a strong stomach, transcripts of his exchanges with the Las Vegas woman are available on radaronline. I can’t believe the woman was willing to make them public.

I wouldn’t be surprised if he were set up. How else would multiple women provide material to Breitbart?

The staggering arrogance is what appalls me more than the lewd behavior. How could he really thing he could bluster his way thru this? That’s a frightening ego and I’m glad that his political career is probably over.

I don’t think he was set up. I think once the news breaks this is the women’s chance for their 15 minutes.

Important to me–I hate hypocrites.

This is why I’d want him to resign. Especially the lying part…

Made me laugh!!

I don’t know to what extent the House of Representatives can kick him out based on his actions. They can censure you, punish you, etc. But I would guess that there’s not much else they can do.The easiest thing to do would be for Rep. Weiner to resign.

Face it, if Senator Larry Craig can hang in until the end of his term without resigning, there’s no reason why Rep. Weiner can’t. Getting re-elected? I wouldn’t vote for either one.

I wonder if he has an addiction to these sorts of online relationships. I know that this online stuff can be very addicting (says she, of over 5,000 posts)…I’m not sure if he can break free from it. That’s one thing I would consider if I were his wife.

Looks like she will need all of those qualities in the upcoming months…

What a jerk! She sounds like she is a really great person that he’s really messed with. Less respect than ever for him…

btw, according to local NY news, his wife is actually travelling in the Middle East with Hilary as we speak…

Jon Stewart was hilarious yesterday in his bit about congressman weiner. Classic stuff

I read some of that transcript, NYMomof2. How thoroughly embarrassing. It never ceases to amaze me how stupid some otherwise intelligent people can be. He clearly has major problems; the idea that he was engaging in conversations like this at all is bad enough, but when he and his wife were still basically newlyweds? I don’t get it.

I don’t get it either. If you are beautiful, brilliant and accomplished and that’s not enough for your husband, then what on earth is?

Not to diminish anything Weiner has done, but casting his wife as the perfect woman may be a tad generous…i am glad she wasn’t standing by her man at the press confernece, but not to have a single clue about her husbands behavior would surprise me…

She isn’t the perfect woman, but she IS beatiful, accomplished and, by all accounts, very smart. Isn’t that enough?

Weiner said that his wife did know about his long-term online relationships. Which, of course, led Chris Matthews to blame her.

Her silence on this issue is deafening…actions speak louder then words…and i don’t believe she has anything to be blamed for

I thought he said that it had previously been an issue between them, for which he’d apologized to her, and that she didn’t know he was still doing it.

I think you’re right Donna. But the whole concept wasn’t a surprise to her, if that makes sense. Still not her fault by any stretch of the imagination.

Her only “fault” would be in giving him a chance to clean up his act.

Well, Bill and Hillary have managed to stay together. But they had years of marriage, a political symbiosis and a child to keep them together. I don’t see any of that with Weiner and his wife.

I’m hard pressed to understand how anyone – even a man – could deem that this is her fault!!

There’s no way that Breitbart “set him up”…Weiner has been doing this for over 3 years. “Set ups” like this don’t go on for 3 years. It’s not like the CIA was doing a spy investigation.

Frankly, I think…

1) He has a sex addiction

2) He’s an unattractive man who has been taking advantage of the power/attraction that comes with being a national politician. (which is one reason he doesn’t want to quit…he’d be a nobody and other women wouldn’t give him the time of day. )

Weiner said that his wife did know about his long-term online relationships.

He lied about that, too. At one point he said that he had always been “frank” (lol) with his wife about his internet stuff…but then…a few minutes later…admitted that his wife only learned that he had sent the photos that morning. So, he’s not been frank about his frank.

And…Chris Matthews is a moron. How dare he blame her.

I agree…he’ll resign on Friday…or the weekend.
