It is really insulting to any woman who is not svelte that one would assume that husbands don’t truly love, cherish, and feel passion for such women.

(for your wife’s sake, I pray she is under a size 8)

“It is really insulting to any woman who is not svelte that one would assume that husbands don’t truly love, cherish, and feel passion for such women.”

Right, because when these politicians cheat, it’s never with a woman who’s younger or slimmer than their wives.

Anyway…there is enough hypocrisy on both sides of the aisle when it comes to bad behaviors. One group implies that it is more supportive of women, yet has had guys behaving badly. The other group implies that it is more supportive of family values, but it has guys behaving badly.

The issue isn’t really whether one side is more hypocritical than the other (because both are)…the issue is that men (regardless of political stripe) can let their “little head” control them more than the one with the brain.

Further insults.

First, look at Arnold Schwartzeneggar’s mistress. She is not younger or slimmer than Maria Shriver at all.

Some of the cheating politicians have very beautiful slim wives in fact. I’m not going to take the time to list the ones that fit this description.

Also, as this thread is about Anthony Weiner…his wife is young and beautiful and slim as well.

I don’t think cheating husbands is all about finding a slimmer, younger, prettier sex partner and it has more to do with other issues.

*Quote:

======================

First, look at Arnold Schwartzeneggar’s mistress. She is not younger or slimmer than Maria Shriver at all. *

OK…that one has the world scratching its head. Maria is drop-dead gorgeous and amazing. I think many of us just think that the housekeeper affair was just one of “opportunity” - she was in the house - she was THERE. I doubt Arnold would have picked her up at a bar.

It seems that there are many men for whom SEX–having sex, thinking about sex, talking about sex, taking sexual pictures, making sexual innuendos, texting about sex-- is more important than their wife, their marriage, their family, their job… They can have an intelligent or gorgeous or sexy or influential or wealthy (or any combination of those) wife/partner, and still not get enough sexual attention. They can put sex above an honest-to-goodness soulmate who even makes sex a priority. And politics seems to attract this type of personality, one who lacks a certain type of SELF CONTROL.

sunnyflorida…agree! It is not about finding a slimmer, younger, prettier woman. Many men who cheat have slim pretty wives too. The reasons for cheating go beyond “looks.”

Tiger Woods is definitely Exhibit A, soozievt!

I did not read anything about Tipper Gore being ditched. For all I know, she could be the one choosing to leave the marriage. Any news I’m missing here?

As for svelte women, not only was Arnie’s side dish hefty, I don’t think Monica Lewinsky could be described as a slim thing. But I think many of these carousers will take any opportunity without regard to looks. It seems to me Wiener was looking for some opportunities.

The big question about Wiener is whether he can effectively do his job with this storm that he created around him. He’s already begging for cover and a hiatus. Probably waiting for the any big news thing to take him out of the headlines. Schwartzeneggar owes him one.

I haven’t heard why, exactly, that the Gore marriage went kaput. I always figured it was because she caught wind of his hotel shenanigans and got the heck out of Dodge.

ellemenope…Tiger Woods is a great example of a cheating (lots!) husband who had a young, slim, attractive wife. I didn’t use him as an example because he is not a politician and I wasn’t gonna bother to list all the examples anyway. Schmaltz’s bringing up the issue that Tipper Gore isn’t slim or same with Elizabeth Edwards is pretty insulting over the issue of men who cheat and as if their wife’s weight or age is the issue. Lots of men have overweight wives who are middle age and never cheat. Lots of men have slim young pretty wives and do cheat. As this thread is about Anthony Weiner, he does have a young, slim, pretty wife.

Kudos to mom2collegekids for getting it SO right on this one. I’ve had to laugh at way too many posts that have tried to make this a “party” issue when in fact it is a character issue.

When so many policiticians have behaved so badly, it’s impossible for me to determine who should resign and who should not. Where do you draw the line? How do you measure sex scandal with tax evasion?

New info on Weiner…

New pictures of him taken in the Congressional Gym!!! Tmz reports and releases a few of the pictures…usong government facilities to take inappropriate pics refutes his claim he didn’t use any federal/government resources…

Well there ya go…

Why do these nitwits cheat even though it’s highly risky and even though, in many cases, they have beautiful accomplished wives? Because it isn’t about sex. It’s about wielding power, and the thrill of the chase, and being accustomed to getting their way about everything.

My, he’s proud of that gleaming chest of his. How embarrassing.

Some of them are basically just of his zeiseh punim, to send to all his devoted fans. Nothing wrong with that.

As for the “using federal/government resources,” I wish people would stop with that kind of overwrought hysteria and faux outrage. Taking a photo of yourself in the Congressional gym doesn’t cost the government one red cent. Yes, it’s using the gym for a non-job related purpose, but, guess what, so is any use of the gym!

As long as there’s nothing illegal about taking photos of oneself, I don’t see one bit of difference between this and, say, reading a book while you’re in the gym. Neither is directly related to using the gym or performing your job; neither costs the government a penny; neither is illegal. The only difference is that people disapprove of one and not the other.

Look, I don’t even think the main problem with his sending all those tweets is “using government resources” (again, assuming there was no illegality). How much did those cost the government all together, 13 dollars? 50 dollars? It would be like firing someone for using a paper clip for non-job related purposes, or for using an office phone to call home and say you were going to be late.

*I did not read anything about Tipper Gore being ditched. For all I know, she could be the one choosing to leave the marriage. Any news I’m missing here?
*

I don’t know who actually left who. I thought that Tipper left him after she found out about his infidellity(ies).

*Schmaltz’s bringing up the issue that Tipper Gore isn’t slim or same with Elizabeth Edwards is pretty insulting over the issue of men who cheat and as if their wife’s weight or age is the issue. *

Soozie…you’re misunderstanding what Schmaltz was talkign about. He wasn’t saying that men cheat because of what their wives look like.

Some thin women have chubby hubbies…and the reverse…and many never cheat. That wasn’t what he was talking about.

What was the point of using the adjective “hefty” in decribing Elizabeth Edwards if one of his points wasn’t that her being overweight was somehow a reason for the infidelity? And including the decription of Al Gore unable to put his arms around Tipper?

To add another name to the list of beautiful women whose dhs cheated: Halle Barry.

Agree with Donna that pics in the congressional gym isn’t that big a deal, at least not legally. But those pics … ewwwwww. Why do men feel compelled to touch themselves all the time, like they have to constantly make sure it’s there?

ETA: But taking the pics in the congressional gym is further proof of his stupidity.

Schmaltz said, “Right, because when these politicians cheat, it’s never with a woman who’s younger or slimmer than their wives.”

well it may not have been the only point Schmaltz was making, as he was referring to politicians purposely trying to appear to be sensitive to women to win their votes, however it was one of the points he was making…

as far as Weiner using the gym, I guess it is just another backdrop, but it appears he sure did this narcissistic photo thing staring at and showing off his body quite a bit. if I were someone who wrote to him to discuss policy and he began moving to sexual topics I’d be pretty creeped out.

When I look back, I don’t find any correlation between a politician’s job performance and his (almost always his) sexual shenanigans. I have my political views, but I think those on the other side of the aisle will say the same-- the cheaters weren’t worse in office than the (apparently) faithful men.

Take Thomas Jefferson, say. A great man, accomplished great things for the US, fathered several children with one of his slaves. Was he worse than John Adams? Roosevelt cheated, Eisenhower cheated, but most people would say they were better Presidents than faithful Jimmy Carter. People say sexual infidelity goes to fitness for office, but I just don’t see it.
