Actually, in this case, I think AW’s wife looks more attractive than AW (at least in their wedding photo). I think it has more to do with maturity (or lack thereof) and egos.

ICK for AW, making passes at 17-year-old HSer. This man has real issues and needs a LOT of treatment. He is different from the others, as has been posted above and should NOT be in any position of power.

“the narcissistic photographing of himself, alone, raises red flags for me”

Taking pictures of oneself alone, often in the bathroom/gym mirror, is about as remarkable as a trip to the grocery store among young people who have an active online life. CC happens to be a site where nearly everyone is anonymous (except me), but on Facebook and Myspace having that sort of picture is nearly universal. I don’t think that all the users are narcissists. It’s the sexual component of the AW pictures that makes them at all unusual. Though unusual might not be the right word for something that tens of millions of people do. Facebook, Myspace, and dating sites are absolutely papered with come-hither photos of varying intensity. Pouting up at one’s camera, held above the head, is actually called the “MySpace angle.”

^^ Yes Hanna, I can agree with what you are saying and if AW was 16 or even 26, I would give him a pass, but a 46 y/o putting pictures of this nature on the web and tweeting with women about it - is just creepy

I must run with a WAY more conservative group because no one I know has pictures of this sort posted on line. My 18 yr old son thought they were weird and my 65 yr old dad thinks AW is a fool for doing this. I have a hard time believing that this is normal common behavior for a 46 yr old married man let alone a Congressman. And yes I hold elected officials to higher standard.

rom, maybe you run with a way older group. Weiner isn’t even the first Congressman busted for sending unclothed pictures of himself, though the last guy just got caught with a preening chest pose.

I’m sure your friends are more mature, rom828 :). But I also suspect that if you have an 18-year-old son, you are not running around in a group of 17-25 year olds.

Too bad that he didn’t say that he would resign if he were in Vitter’s position, or Ensign’s, or Sanford’s, or Craig’s, or Giuliani’s, etc, etc, etc.

On tonight’s news, pundits thought AW hasn’t resigned is b/c it’s “his only weapon” if he is criminally charged. Pretty sad to think that’s all his job represented.

^ha…I was wondering the same thing. He checks into rehab for being addicted to taking pictures of himself or needing to take pictures of himself or needing to take pictures of himself and sending them to these woman. How many places are there that people can go to to “fix” their sick little minds? What will they do in therapy in 2 weeks or 4 weeks or 24 weeks to cure this man of being stupid? All these people with poor behavior check into these places…I would love to be a fly on the wall to see how they address this issue.

I don’t think there’s any particular type of “rehab” for this – I think it’s just a matter of his figuring out why he, a married U.S. Congressman, feels the need to act like a 16-year-old HS kid by sexting all over the place.

“normal common behavior for a 46 yr old married man”

Oh, of course the sexting is not. But I don’t think taking lots of pictures of oneself in the bathroom/gym mirror is inherently narcissistic behavior. Even the flexing (for men) and pouty face (for women), which is not to my taste, is extremely common on dating sites.

Hanna, what part of what Anthony Weiner did would you consider to be normal:

Being married
being a Congressman
Sexting to more than half a dozen women
sending out a ‘strange’ text to a 17 yo about wearing a cape
taking pictures of himself
taking explicit pictures of his sexual organs
taking unclothed pictures of himself in a government gym
sending the pictures to women he has never met

Isn’t this really when you put it all together that he looks perverted?
Being a married Congressman who is taking lewd and explicit pictures of himself and pictures of himself half naked in the HoR gym and sending them to women he has never met?

Hard for me to understand: The lack of self control, given that he is married, is hard to understand. The lack of self control for a man in his position is hard to understand.
