3 solid recommendations and I am currently working on my application essay

I got accepted yesterday and they showed me a 10k merit award and did not mention anything other money? I have a efc of 0, so either they haven’t put need based aid on mine or transfer students don’t get any???

Bump!!! Bump

Zach,

Is there anything you can tell me about the music industry program? I’m a rising senior and have a passion for music but would like to incorporate that into a business/marketing degree somehow. Thanks.

Cavity, did they send you your full cost analysis- tuition, fees, financial aid? If not, you don’t have the full picture yet. They just gave my son his financial aid info this week and he is a returning sophomore. You can also appeal their decision if you think they need to give you more. That is reviewed in August.

xcjordangtr, the word is that the music industry program is great, and very selective.

Yea, they are now showing the money from the federal but not from the institution. I can’t get a email back calling is pointless so I’m putting in my deposit for RPI and if they give me more than maybe I’ll try to get out of it…:/

xcjordangtr, look at the joint music industry mba program: [BS Music Industry/MBA](Drexel University < 2023-2024 Catalog | Drexel University)

it’s a great deal. if not you can always do a minor in some type of business or marketing.

good luck

Cavity, did you go through ask Drexel?

When do freshman get dorm assignments? Thanks

Hey Zackdudde thanks for helping!
I was wondering, do you know anything about financial aid for internation students, do they offer/ is it generous?

yea same question. I’m an int’l student and i’d like to know what their policies are toward us. I know they dong have need based aid for int’l students, but we can compete for the merit based.
and can you tell me about your co-op experience? who did you work for and where was it. Was it useful? was Drexel helpful during the whole working time? I know the minimum salary is about $15000,but is it possible to have higher wages? and I mean just the whole experience, what did you think of it?

Merit-based aid depends on the student. I know nothing of your academic achievements, therefore I can’t say if you will get a large scholarship or not. You’d be better off contacting the admissions office/financial aid.

There is not a minimum or maximum salary for co-ops. The wages are set by your employer. Some jobs are unpaid, while others are compensated very nicely. Your experience will also likely depend on the company you work for. Drexel partners with a lot of companies that are hiring co-ops, but a job is not guaranteed and you need to work hard to get good grades and then interview well.

thanks sarahjudith. My academic achievements aren’t something I could brag about, so I guess merit-base aid would not be helpful to me if I one day got accepted. But do you think it would be ‘do-able’ if I got rejected from Drexel and ,hypothetically, got perfect grades in another university, then could I transfer to Drexel, probably on sophomore year, and still be able to get a merit-based aid?

Again, it’s really hard to say, and I don’t want to advise you wrong because I don’t work for the financial aid office. If you’re really curious about affordability then I suggest you contact them and ask to talk with a representative. I know there are scholarships for transfer students but I do not know what the requirements are.

You should also not enter any university with the intention to transfer, because that will probably dampen your college experience. If you really don’t like where you end up then that’s when you should consider transferring!

*** RETAKING THEM IN OCTOBER***
do i have to notify that in my ap if i dont send my scores in untill they are out?

Student government cab, soccer, LOTS LOTS LOTS of volunteer and showding experience, awards (presidents, classmenship), honor society and etc

soo do you see me getting accepted into drexel with just better Critical reading score!?

holy guacamolee!! top 20% of 1300 students?? I wish I was in your position!
Good scores by the way even though your CR seems a bit off, but if you are doing it again in October then don’t worry right now, just think about revising and practicing CR questions… I have 520 in CR and I really want to raise this score for at least 600, hopefully I’ll be fully prepared until October.

Btw, your extra curriculars are insanely awesome too, for the ‘lots’ of volunteering you are definitely boosting your application!
Best of luck!!

I want to apply to Drexel.
There’s a box where I have to pick which co-op option I want.
5 year with three co-op’s, 4 year with 1, or no co-ops.
What is the most common choice, and what if I don’t know yet? Can I change it later?

all4game, this is an important choice. 5yr with 3 co-ops is more common in engineering and other fields. You can change later but there are serious tuition implications so think about this early.

So i have two older sisters that went through college. their only advise was to do whatever it took to get priority scheduling. I was accepted into the Pennoni Honors college and excited I didn’t have to do anything else to receive priority scheduling. As an engineering student I was informed that the college would be scheduling my classes. I emailed my academic advisor(who was not present to speak with at orientation which really ****ed me off) to ensure I received priority scheduling. She informed me that I would not have any special treatment. I have a 8 AM lab and am a little ticked by her attitude. Who should I speak with about getting my schedule tweaked? What’s the point of being in the honors college if I don’t get the perks??

P.S.- I am pretty sure my incompetent advisor did not schedule me for the honors intro class, but I don’t know who to ask about that either. any help would be greatly appreciated.

As far as I know you can’t change your schedule during your first term. After that, you’re free to tweak it to your heart’s delight, and that’s when your priority scheduling will kick in and make you the envy of all your peers.

During your first term your advisors are the only ones who can change your schedule around. I would recommend speaking with your advisor in person once you move in. Then you can ask her whether she could move that lab time for you, as well as about the honors intro class. Don’t worry, there’s still plenty of time :)
