I am looking for parents of current students, especially those who may be frustrated by the recent dissolution of the relationship between CIM and CWRU.
From what I saw it was CIM which stopped funding the program. Seems a shame.
I think there is equal to blame between the two schools. CWRU apparently was asking for a huge increase in fees. But, my beef is more with how it was grossly mishandled with CIM students. Do you have a student at CIM?
Not a parent and there’s 3 sides to every story, but this article puts blame on the CIM President. It’s interesting. I’d imagine CWRU, if they are providing the liberal arts classes, would have the leverage.
Are kids not able to get required classes for their degree ?
Edit - as I read it’s actually a CWRU published article.
Oh, I know! I have spoken to CIM administration. It is not that students are not able to get their degree, though students who were pursuing a minor with CWRU are no longer able to do so as part of their CIM tuition. It is that the school has taken away opportunities that were originally promised (and marketed) to students.
The thing about music conservatory administrations is that they have all the power. And especially in this case, where students were informed of this change less than three weeks prior to classes starting.
I wish you well in whatever you are pursuing through the thread.
Thanks! I think I’m just looking for some commiseration!
And also to see if any other parents are as upset about this as I am.
I dont have student there. Is there a CIM parents Facebook page or something?
I have looked but have not found an active one…which is also why I came here.
