Any Signs of Spring Where You Live?

Just realized that the first day of spring is about 3 weeks from now. Hooray! I noticed that our neighbor’s tulip, daffodil and crocus bulbs are poking up through the soil. They have a sunny yard so theirs will usually bloom several weeks before ours.

So are there any signs of spring in your neck of woods?

MLB spring camps are in full swing now here in Florida. 72 degrees and sunny in Tampa right now.

Not even close. I am wishing for Global warming, please.

Woke up to about 2 inches of slushy snow this morning. Now it’s raining so I’m hoping this will all be gone by the end of the day.

I did see a long range forecast and except for the PNW they are predicting a way above average spring for temps and way below average for precipitation. I feel sorry for those who live in the worst drought areas already.

My dwarf iris came up a week or two ago & lots of new buds on the vine maple et.al.
Birds also going nutso, the robins are following me around like they think I am going to turn over soil.
I think the hummingbirds are maybe nesting? They are getting very territorial.

I cant wait for spring, we didn’t have one last year.
( look to theoatmeal.com for typical Seattle seasons)

It feels like spring is right around the corner, even though the temps are cold. I think it’s because the sun is higher in the sky, and we are starting to get a little bit of humidity, so that even when it is 27 degrees outside, it doesn’t feel like it is below freezing. Mornings are very noisy due to bird activity, but I haven’t seen my first robin yet. I just noticed my first miniature daffodil opened today, and there are signs of other bulb flowers pushing through the ground. Today it looks like the grass is just a bit greener.

The weather here in central NC has been very sporadic. One day, it’s snowing heavily. The next, it’s sunny and in the 60s. Some flowers had begun to bloom over the past few weeks, only to be quickly bombarded by freezing rain and snow. It’s sunny and warm out today; hopefully it stays that way.

So jealous! I’m looking at the live webcam of my favorite beach in Florida right now. Beautiful blue skies, palm trees swaying in the breeze, waves gently rolling in, and people sunbathing and strolling on the beach. Sigh.

MiamiDAP, I always assumed you lived in Florida. Guess not.

emeraldkity4, last year did you go straight from winter to summer? No signs of robins here yet.

Since I don’t count spring like weather in July to be spring- we did go right into summer.
It was cold and grey forever, bit I admit when summer finally came it did stick around for a long time.
I had all *kinds * of tomatoes!
We had 48 days without rain.

We had a small group of robins winter over here - every time I see them huddled by our bird bath I feel like screaming at them “Leave! Fly away while you can! It’s not spring yet!”

I worry that they won’t get enough to eat while the ground is hard and covered with snow - and there aren’t enough berries around here to sustain them…

Snow day here – about four inches over night and it is still snowing. So I am wasting time checking out the SF Giants spring training blogs.

Yes…there are bags and bags full of jellybeans at Target. That’s how we know it’s spring in Southern California.

Floridians know winter has ended when we start seeing snowbirds driving their cars back north.

Ten inches of snow yesterday, and you ask this today?

Sunny, dry and warm all day. Well, in February warm is about 9C, but there were lots of people sat outside today, even if they were still wearing coats!

in Northern Cal, spring allergy/hay fever season started a months ago. i am carrying a tissue box everywhere with me.

It’s not too cold, but dreary rainy windy today in NJ, but the crocuses (croci?) are blooming!

emeraldkity4 --

I could never live in Washington. I love the sun and the beach. All those rainy and cloudy days would be my demise.

lizard --

I guess most of the snowbirds head back north in April. I’ve found that the crowds are gone by May.

musicamusica --

Don’t you get flowers that bloom during the spring in SoCal? I would think that the deciduous trees would get their leaves in the spring also.

I just noticed here in Central Virginia yesterday that my daffodils are up, although not open. There are bunches open just around the corner, though. :D

In North Carolina, we’ve got daffodils, phlox budding out and all the monkey grass is starting to come back.
