Any suggestions for new parents of twins?

Well, I should be in good shape, then.

Seriously, it is such a pleasure, such a gift to get to spend time with them.

TWO sets of twins?? Whoa, Pizzagirl! I know my S and DIL have talked about wanting to maybe have another child one day, but they are pretty nervous about having twins again.

Wonderful update! Enjoy your time with those babies!!!

My youngest sibs are twins. My mom had five kids under six (and three under two) when my dad was sent to Vietnam. I think that year probably cured them of the idea of any more kids!

My favorite niece just gave birth to twins
 3 months prematurely :frowning:
Babies are doing as well (even breathing on their own) as can be expected, but there’s an awful lot of fears and more than a few tears during this hard time for their parents and grandparents

katliamom, will keep good thoughts for your niece, the twins and their families.

Oh man, katliamom—will definitely keep that family in our prayers!!! We were just talking last night about how wonderfully round and happy our twins are now. I look forward to when your niece can say the same thing. Meanwhile, also will pray for all those wonderful NICU workers. Aren’t they just amazing???

“all those wonderful NICU workers. Aren’t they just amazing???” – Yes, they are. It’s their professionalism and at the same time enormous kindness/support that’s keeping this family from completely falling apart to pieces.

Start saving for college and never dress them alike. My twins are HS seniors.

Thanks, onceuponamom. My son and his wife are following both of those suggestions.
Congrats on your twins’ upcoming graduation!

Wonderful news, churchmusicmom. Thanks for sharing. I agree with the ‘wonderful NICU workers’. Hoping I’m blessed with a grandchild or two this decade. I’ll be searching for the article you mentioned, momof3sons, so I can email it to D. (Found it, or one like it

My twins are now 22. It is crazy when they were small. I felt as though I had half the time to enjoy each one and the time went twice as fast. Cherish these days.

Congratulations! Our boy-girl twins are now 30. We went on to have 2 single babies, but have to admit we worried we might have another set of twins. I really think it is best to have the twins first. You don’t know anything either way so it just seems normal. After twins, the single births are a breeze! When they get a little older they keep each other entertained-they always have a friend. Enjoy every minute!

My twins are 22 as well, Tatin. I’ve loved having twins!

I did dress them alike / coordinating til they were about 4 or 5. I felt I was entitled to leverage the cuteness

One twin is flying to spend time with the other over spring break. It warms my heart. They talk several times a week.

Katliamom - fwiw, my twins were 9 weeks early, weighed 2 and 3 pounds apiece, spent 2 months in NICU - and they are happy and healthy 22 yo’s. And this was before steroids, and some of technology today. Praise to NICU workers, and best wishes!

I love hearing all the “grown up twins” stories! Keep 'em coming!

almost grown up, 16 now. They were born 66 minutes apart. When mom is in the military, they do the natural birth method. 1st weighed 5.2 and the 2 was 6.9. Went home 3 days later. We are very blessed.

When they were just born, we kept them together in the same crib. They never woke each other up, which I always found strange.

“Our” twins are absolutely sleeping in the same crib—well, in a “pack-n-play”, or portable crib so they can be in the room with mom and dad (or me if I am spending the night).

funny twin story. Daughters were in preschool and in separate classes. The oldest says, “When my sister gets hurt, the other kids come to get me. I don’t know why. I’m not a doctor.”
