Last night spent a lot of time on Austin. It showed up some of his mistakes - giving Julie the idol, becoming too close to Dee, etc. It is rare that a group of 4 from an original tribe stick together for this long in the game. They have to turn on each other at some point (I had thought it would have been last night - maybe next week).
Unusual tribal councils this year, so many “unanimous” votes. By making the big Bruce move Emily put a huge target on herself.
The irony - Austin decided to tell Dee so she wouldn’t be blindsided. But by her letting Julie know, she blindsided him.
And she played her hand very well - keeping her allies Julie and Austin safe, while also voting for Julie so it wouldn’t be obvious to others what she had done (although Austin will probably figure that out).
Katurah - man, what a life she’s lived. I hope she is Sia’s pick.
They are featuring the relationship between Austin and Dee more now. I’m sure there was footage earlier, but we didn’t see it. Kendra did. I also wonder if something is happening between Kaleb and Kellie at Ponderosa. They seem very close.
Did anyone else notice how much lettuce was left over after the guys ate the burgers?
Regarding strategy, if Julie was trying to weaken Drew, the only real option was Emily. If she voted Austin out, she would have upset both Dee and Drew and dissolved the Reba alliance. Dee & Drew would only need to grab Emily and Kendra to vote her out next episode.
So… unless Austin is foolish and gives his idol away, He is safe in the next episode. I wonder if they are showing the showmance because Austin ends up winning immunity and gives the idol to Dee. That would potentially alienate Drew who could partner with others to vote Austin out.
I don’t understand why Austin did not ask Julie to give him back HIS idol. I also thought Julie would be open to a lot of criticism for voting out the person who made her safe. Austin must have felt pretty secure in her vote not to play his other idol.
Good episode. Sorry to see Emily go but she had a good run.
But why did he let her keep the idol after the one tribal council? Why not ask for it back before this?
I don’t buy that he was too shocked. He was shown considering using it. They all knew Julie had an idea she was the target. Julie knew that if she went after Austin she would have blown up her alliance and seen to have turned on the person that saved her by giving her his idol and letting Dee know of the plan. Emily was the safer vote for Julie.
I don’t think Julie would give it back. She is a hard _ _ _!!!
I’m sorry to see Emily go - sure she put a target on her by the Bruce move but it gave her a resume which she needed.
Yes Katurah’s story - dropped my mouth! New respect.
Haha - I noticed Austin EATING the lettuce - I was thinking - he’s thinking of his bowel system after all those carbs!!!
I think Drew is going to go ballistic. I think Dee and Julie are the most intense players left. Julie is no “sit back and take care of the kids” mom.
I’m sure Caleb and Kellie probably developed a relationship as #1 and #2 on the jury. And I don’t think she is warming up to Bruce, lol. She seems like a chatty person - at least on the jury .
I watched an exit interview with Emily. The interviewer asked why they didn’t split the vote. She acknowledged that splitting would have been smarter. She went on to say that the old Reba tribe was so solid. Loyalty was important to them. You did things and voted to prove your loyalty or risk being the next person on the chopping block. That is probably why Austin didn’t play his idol. Although it looked to us like he was at risk, he knew that Julie wouldn’t break up the alliance this early.
I saw Austin grabbing the lettuce as well. That’s what caught my attention. The tray was completely empty, but the lettuce looked untouched.
I did not think Austen was in danger because I agree that Julie did not want to risk blowing up her alliance with Dee who quite emphatically told her that Austen was not behind this. Julie is reserving her ire for Drew and the preview indicates some fireworks here.
I think if you ever give somebody your idol you need to lay out the rules - this idol is for tonight only - I expect the idol to be returned to me after tribal tonight etc. However, nobody ever seems to do that.
Trying to figure out how the final three will play out. If it is the 3 Rebas - I think Dee wins. She seems to have strong support from the jury. If it is Katurah, Jake, and any of the three Reba - I think the Reba wins. Now if it is two Rebas and either Katurah or Jake then it might be more interesting. I would love to see Dee vs Austin in a fire making challenge - they are so competitive with each other.
I can’t believe Austin didn’t figure out that Dee tipped off Julie!
And now he was blindsided - Dee didn’t return the favor by telling him about the plan to eject Drew.
What’s he going to do about it? My wife says “nothing”. Thinks he’s too smitten to confront or plot against Dee.
I think so as well. They’ll get rid of Jake next, and then Katurah. Then Dee can tout to the jury how well she played the game and controlled the outcome (two blindsides now, in which she played a key part).
Jake is such an underdog & that’s a good story. Dee has played a good game but she’s not my favorite so meh from me. Katurah I love but haven’t seen much game play there. Everyone says they love Julie but she seems crazy to me. Austin-I just lost my respect for him when he blabbed about the Julie blindside to Dee. I’m so sad about Emily, I really loved her by the time she was voted out!
I think Austin has been sharing info with Dee all along (and vice versa). I think editing made it look like he just blabbed last week and she didn’t reciprocate. I’m sure they have footage all along of the two of them talking about whether they should share info or trust each other.
I assumed that Austin and Drew were closer than it appears they were. And it appears that Drew is closer to Jake, Katurah and Emily than the others are. That could be a factor with him on the jury and being able to fill the other jurors in on Reba game play.
Austin was closely aligned with Drew. If Dee had told him about the blindside wouldn’t he have tried to block that? Or maybe given his amulet to Drew? (Since it was useless after this round and he didn’t really have a need to use it for himself).
Dee wanted Drew out and not Julie. It would have made sense for Austin to have played his idol for Drew and have him stay. Dee could not risk that because Julie would have been gone
Jake makes final 4 with his idol. Next week will be interesting. At least one Reba will be in final 3. I am team Dee. She had been playing very well.
I think Drew gets a bad rap by everyone but I liked him - and I kind of liked that he walked out without a “good luck” to anyone.
The helicopter circling around the others at camp left a bad taste in my mouth. Survivor isn’t About who you like but right now I’m not liking Dee too much and Austin seems to be losing his individual mind by being smitten with her.
I’d love to see Jake make a big move and take it all. Unlikely but in Survivor you never know.
Wonder who Drew will turn on now that he is in the jury.
I thought Drew came off as a sore loser by not saying anything to the others. He said he was humiliated and mortified that he was so confident and then got voted out. Totally understandable, but his exit was not very gracious. Good blindsides are a big part of Survivor.
Why Jake? I think any of the remaining Reba players are much more deserving IMHO, but you never know. The last two season the winner has surprised me. Jake will make final 4 due to his idol.
