i hope they consider them because I got all A’s and im not usually a straight A student
and no the classes weren’t easy. I took my hardest courseload this year.

haha here’s hoping they don’t consider them…

so if we aren’t able to go to vision weekend, we can still go to owl days right? does
anyone know if they offer travel reimbursements for owl days?

owl days will only be for accepted students, whereas vision is for prospective
but yeah…if you get accepted you can for sure go!

i’m not sure how they will handle reinbursements. but if they were going to reimburse you for this trip i don’t see why they couldn’t for another one.

chances are, they won’t reimburse you for Owl Days.

The reason why they are doing so for Vision is because they are trying to provide top prospective students, who might be leaning towards another school or are undecided, a chance to experience Rice before the other schools send out letters. Whats the most effective way to ensure people to come to your school… offer to pay for their travel

that is soo true, i prob would have never visited Rice w/o this program. ths will def help in my college decision.

Crap, i’m latino living in south texas and didn’t get invited because they haven’t received my test scores which i recently sent: SAT2: math2: 770, chem: 690, ACT: Composite 30. Will this hurt my chances of getting in, assuming that my gpa is solid, my teacher recs are amazing, and my essay is relatively good?

I don’t think not attending Vision hurts your chances!

They accept URMs that don’t attend Vision, so don’t let it get you down!

Have you sent in your scores now?

Yes the scores have been sent in, i’m now crossing my fingers-as cliche as that sounds.

cliche or not, i am sure we are all doing it!

um, Vision 2009 was pretty much amazing to say the least.

That’s all :)

Any stories to share for us less fortunate ones?

dodge ball at jones… so much fun

Well for starters, if anyone is a Rice virgin like I was, they HAVE to go and visit. I found it different from typical top colleges in that they strike a REALLY good balance between studies and fun. The res colleges system is as amazing as everyone makes it out to be and the weather is not so bad. I also found out the surrounding area of Houston is really nice and much more interesting than I originally thought. I found it wasn’t the place I had imagined, but much, much better.
Really nice people and they are specifically building two more colleges for our incoming class. I stayed in the newest college, at Martel, and the suites are more like a small apartment than they are like dorms. I got a preview of the research by seeing some labs and it’s extremely interesting to see what kind of discoveries they are making. Also small (good for me) and about a 5:1 students to faculty ratio. I truly can’t say enough about Rice.

oh and yes, dodgeball = awesome. First time I played since like 8th grade haha. Also it was great that they had parties going on both on a Sunday and a Monday night. Never figured Rice for a party school.

Dude I hosted at Martel haha. The weather was nasty this past weekend…but other than that you guys got to do soooo much more than we did during Owl Days, way jealous.

IT WAS AMAZING!!!

Rice totally stole my heart away…perhaps Stanford &Brown aren’t my first choices?!

I thought the whole experience was awesome
I also stayed at martel too!

WILL RICE all the way!

did anyone else get that “you’re already in” feeling from when the president was talking at the alumni dinner?

haha I got that feeling from like everyone, but yes :)
