The Hawks are good team. Sigh.

CF,

Both goalies were incredible this afternoon. Niemi had 44 saves, and the Sharks goalie had 38.

Yes, and the rest of the players were also excellent. Western Conference fans are almost unanimous in agreeing that the Sharks-Hawks series is for the Cup because whichever team emerges will crush the pretender from the East. Of course, everybody thought the Caps would beat the Habs, then they thought the Pens would beat the Habs, so… that’s why they play the games.

OK, I’m a hockey fan, but Versus, hello? You don’t stop showing the Tour of California just before the last mile so you can show a hockey pregame!

I only saw part of the Mont/Philly game. Hawks came on too late for me, but with both series at 2-0, it doesn’t seem as though there will be an O 6 final.

Go Hawks!

Cardinal, I sympathize with you about Versus. I’ve seen a few games on Versus while travelling but am always happy to get back to Toronto so I can watch CBC or TSN. CBC had a great interview of Bernie Parent between periods last night. It was fun because I knew him when I was in high school and he arrived in Phila. for the Flyers first season in '67. Now I’m old and he’s older! :)

I hope that both series take a turn in Game 3. These games are pretty boring, considering the exciting hockey we watched in the previous round.

alwaysamom,

You may get your wish, at least from my team. The Blackhawks haven’t played as well at home as they have on the road in the play-offs. Also, since I didn’t see the last game H/S, why was it boring?

gloworm, I think the first two games in both of these series were a little boring compared to the previous series, because they were not very well-played and they were more one-sided. There have been so many exciting games, particularly in the East, this year, that those first two Montreal/Philadelphia games were really not much fun at all for the fans.

At least Montreal seemed to wake up and play well tonight. I don’t think it’s going to be the Flyer runaway that their fans were envisioning after the first two games.

Well, OT. Let’s see!

That was a great OT. Go Hawks!

Now, that was an exciting game. :)

Now, that was an exciting game. :(

(Leaving to celebrate Blackhawks victory!)

That game was played at a frenetic pace. On to the Finals. Actually I think the two best teams just played.

Good luck, Blackhawks. :(

Thanks, CF,

We Chicago fans rarely have much to cheer about in the world of sports.

crap. I was hoping the Sharks would provide a good precedent for the Caps next year.

And the Russians just lost the IIHF World Championship game, too. At least it was a Penguin (Malkin) that screwed them over this time.

Russia had a 6-ON-3 POWER PLAY for 90+ SECONDS until Malkin punched a guy in the face. Datsyuk scored with about 30 seconds left, and OV did his damndest, but the Czechs held on.

Poor OV just can’t catch a break. Hopefully this will all just be a distant memory when Washington hoists the Cup next year.

I hope the Flyers’ fans are enjoying the moment, as I don’t think they’ll have much success against Chicago. But then, stranger things have happened this year so who knows! It’s a little annoying that Game 1 of the Finals isn’t until Saturday night.

The Blackhawks are a way better team than the Flyers, but for that very reason the Hawks might take the Flyers lightly. I expect the series to go six games.

In watching what I could (some games out west were too late for me), it seems to me that the Blackhawks have much more speed than the Flyers, but the Flyers have some scary looking dudes, and I think are more physical.

At least we only have to suffer Versus for two games, #3 and 4.

Our toothless wonder is supposed to get his 7 temporary teeth for the series, then real replacements after that. The Blackhawks have 4 dentists on their payroll.
