mind me asking but what do you mean by “qualitative course”?

I meant looking at your entire application as a reflection of what you are in terms of your personality and your achievements. NUS doesn’t though, and they are pretty blatant about that; so if you have good grades, you are definitely in. Only particular faculties like Law and Medicine look at the applicant as a whole, but I think they are looking more at the suitability of the candidate and interest in the course as opposed to how well he/she can play the bugle. I by the way, am a staunch believer in the do-well-in-your-academics-and-enter-by-the-front-door person in terms of local universities. =) For overseas universities, it’s a whole different ball game.

LOLs, sorry… but quantitative… erm computer science and such “maths” courses.

well said jermymjr…

does anyone have any idea when exactly internationals to nus, hav to get into singapore, considering that v gotta collect the matriculation pckage early and seem to hav to do the QET…

abt the QET, do ppl who submit sat scores and toefl along with edexcel o level and alevel still hav to do the qet?? coz personally i think the qet is a joke but still mean ive gotta come abt a week earlier for the test…

got advice fr a fren hu’s in NUS to come down early as there will be orientation camps for freshies. at the moment i’m also at a lost when to go down but it won’t be much of a hassle for me as i’m fr malaysia.

as for the QET test, i don’t think they accept SATs n TOEFL results (doesn’t say anything bout it in the Freshmen Guide). as for A lvs, u hv to obtain a grade C above in General Paper to be exempted fr the QET.

btw eunique. u mentioned bout ‘bidding’ for modules in ur previous post. does dat apply for freshmen undergrads as well? quoting the info fr Department of Electrical n Computer Engineering

“For the first stage of the programme, students will receive a broad-based training that seeks to establish a strong foundation in mathematics, sciences, and computing. In the second stage, students will enroll in core modules that focus on fundamental knowledge in ECE.”

mind explaining bout the 1st stage n 2nd stage thing?

thx~

QET is compulsary…

whats this QET? and what purpose does it serve ?

SM

basically its an english test that every intel atleast has to take…i think its on 21st july…they even sent a sample paper in the freshman package…say SM,if u do get NUS wat wud u choose?

haah well let the time come… its not far … only couple of weeks more…
i will maybe choose NUS … but well the time will be crucial and ill decide then,… coz maybe IUB comes over…

SM

Hi, I am going to NUS but I have not decided whether to choose to stay in a hall or a residence for my first year stay. Do you know whether the hall activities are compulsory for everyone staying in the hall? Will it be very busy for me if i choose to stay in the hall? THank you!

i guess they are…i might opt for a residence as well…

btw hi littleboy…lol
where ya from and which course are you pursuing??

i also have a little doubt…

intels are guarenteed accomodation right…so if i enter only one choice, does that mean that i’ll get it for sure??

I was accepted by industrial and systems engineering

cool boy, where ya frm??

im frm india…

well i spse the residencies seem gud to me…
on the application, i chose pgpr and the river view thing also…
just in case… as for which type rooms r available to frshmen, i dunno…

yeah…so u gave 2 options???

how bout that kuok thingy???

wat if we just give pgpr as a preference…intels are guaranteed accomodation for the first 2 years,so we shud get that…

kouk thinghy seems kinda crap…it jus dus for no particlar reason…hehe
but neways, abt preferences… im guessing they r gauranteein on the basis that v wont b left out of campus accomodation… ie, if v give jus one choice and if thats not available, theyll put us in any available accomodation of THEIR choice…

oh k so uve given 2 choices??? plus 2 sub choices??
