ANYONE GOIN TO NUS?? IS THERE ANY "COLLEGE LIFE" OUT THERE???

for engineering…NUS hands down…

I think their cost about roughly the same… anyway from reading this post about how singaporeans have road learning, i dont feel like i want to go to NUS anymore if i get in

thats what they say …lol …they do really have a bad opinion of it…

NUS july intakes join <a href=“Yahoo | Mail, Weather, Search, Politics, News, Finance, Sports & Videos”>Yahoo | Mail, Weather, Search, Politics, News, Finance, Sports & Videos;

^^^ LOLs… I come to expect that more so for smaller colleges. Wow, didn’t know NUS have one also… how you guys going to make enrolled students join that group? Because for one thing… I think most students don’t come on CC. :p

Zimmerman: You are a little cynical here. Yes, there is not doubt that singapore’s education system depends highly on memorization and it is very inflexible. Every Singaporean student knows that but it is generalizing to say that alevels students who get into nus are not capable. We cant put down an individual’s achievement just because of the uni that they go to. And there is nothing with being a middle class worker. Just look at America, there is less than 5%, are considered filthy rich and the majority are in the middle class category. As for alevels, it is really even worse now that they revamp it. It is also kinda difficult to memorize subjects like Maths C and general paper. General paper is also seen as a “killer paper” because it depends highly on analytic skills. I am neither a fan of the education system, especially after alevels, but we have to be fair here. Because whether u like it or not, the government has indeed set a strong basic foundation for us. Singapore’s education system is highly regarded and respected in the region.In fact, a lot of foreigners do know that we have one of the harddest education system, and our students typically do well overseas.

does anyone hav any idea what the "special term’’ durin the summer holidays is abt? dus that mean theres actlly classes but its jus cald hols r so??

kenyon_10: Duh. It’s the College of Arts and Sciences of UPENN that offers that portion of liberal arts education, not Wharton. So again SMU is very much unlike Wharton, it doesn’t have that liberal arts wing that the latter has.

u noe SJ, i too was confused over that…woebegone??

Sorry I don’t know much about the special terms. But I think there are something like summer schools. You can’t really take a full courseload though, maybe like 2-3 courses (compared to a normal semester courseload of 4) depending on your school and major. I remember reading somewhere that either NUS or NTU (or both) just divided the full special term into 2 special half-terms though, during each you can only take one course. And yes this means there are actually classes during holidays, but not all courses will be available.

this means one cud graduate early?

dus that mean they arent actually holidays?
or is it just like a optional thing??

no i noe its optional…

I think the special terms are catered to those super hardworking students who wants to study more and hence finish a degree in lesser time… Yeah, I think it’s optional…

oh k thanks…but i guess i’ll sure need them cavations…hehe

hahaa… Zimmerman is funny. For me, Nus is nothing more than an ultimate backup. A lot of my poly friends who can’t get into Nus/Ntu talk like you. Look on the bright side, you might get full-tuition to an LACs. Chill & hav fun. ;)

neone got ne ideas abt wat kinda work u need to do on a notebook if ur goin in for engineerin?? so that u can match notebook to work levels etc…
