Anyone heard from Cal Poly Pomona yet?

I love that it’s not impacted. They just built a brand new business building on top of that and–we can get the classes we need without having to stay extra years just because the classes are impacted! So excited.

This is plain stupid. My son applied on October 6 and still doesn’t have a decision. He got in to UCSC and a number of private schools and still hasn’t heard a peep from CPP. We’re doing campus visits so he can make his decision and CPP has completely fallen off of our radar due to its tardiness. It may be a good school, but it’s not good enough that we’re likely to reconsider once our decision has been made (especially if it means forfeiting a deposit). I wonder if they understand that students will decide to go elsewhere while they drag their heels.

hey congrats gabriellerhall! are you a transfer?

Im a business major /transfer and have not heard anything I’m freaking out!

MirabileDictu, UCSC is a wonderful place! My sister goes there. It’s so beautiful and I love it there but unfortunately I didn’t get in. I believe that UCSC has gotten more competitive this year in terms of acceptances. Many of my friends got into Irvine, Davis, and San Diego but got denied from UCSC.

Thanks! We are excited about UCSC, though I think his first choice may be a smaller liberal arts college. We’ll know much more after he visits it this week. If he doesn’t like it or we cannot make the money work, I think he’ll pick UCSC. UCSC was much more selective this year; they admitted 48% of their freshman applicants, which is much tougher than last year. Frankly, that’s one of the reasons why the slow CPP decision is so confusing. It’s the only one of his applications that is still outstanding.

Does your son receive financial aid? If not, I think UCSC is quite expensive for a lower tier UC. My sister pays about 30k because she also lives there. I think Cal Poly is only around 20k with housing. That’s a big difference and I think you should really consider the costs. Not to mention, I live in southern california and it takes about $100 in gas to go to santa cruz and back down. I wouldnt suggest visiting it because then you would have to go again during orientation day. It’s too much money to travel unless you live in northern cal. Just look up the school online. UCSC is basically located in a forest. It’s pretty cold up there. They separate many of the colleges in UCSC. To get from one place to another, there is a bus running 24/7 circling the school.

any communications transfers get in yet? or does anyone know of any who have?

@Breezy117 Do you mind if i ask you what your sat score was?

Panada-

You’re definitely right about the higher cost. UCSC is attractive because of his major (Environmental Science). At CPP he’d have to do Environmental Bio. He’s still also considering Humboldt because it’s really strong in Environmental Science. We’re in Northern California, so getting to Santa Cruz is cheaper and easier for us too. I think CPP is a beautiful campus and I think my son would give it serious thought, but I know he’s eager to decide and move on with his life. If CPP doesn’t give him a decision soon, he’ll have already made a deposit someplace else. He’s not the kind of person to second guess himself or change his mind repeatedly, so once he commits there will be no turning back.

@yasmeen00 I really dont remember because I took the sat way back in 04. I’m a transfer student and I have all but one of my GE and prereq classes completed. Plus I go to Citrus college which is one of CPP’s local service schools. I’m pretty sure that’s what really helped get me in.

@breezy thank you!

I applied as a computer science major and on bronco direct it states " Application Recieved"
I am so worried :frowning:
Why is it taking so long ?

when is the deadline for cal poly pomona to post decisions?

Or does this mean that i got rejected or wait listed ?

Cal Poly Pomona is really slow at posting decisions. Last year, my sister applied as a computer science major and I believe she heard that she got accepted way after she confirmed her enrollment to ucsc. I think she heard from CPP in May.

CPP does notify some students after May and if that is the case, the student would just have to reply in the next three weeks rather than that entire May 1 deadline for the ECD (seeing as that would be impossible by then). My friend lost his enrollment deposit at CSULA when he finally heard back from CPP. It happens, and I don’t think losing the deposit would be a big deal if the education you want is at CPP. But that’s all up to the student!

should i be worried if i didnt hear anything from them yet?

I think you should call them and ask to check your admission status. They may have already decided but are still processing it. i dont know. One of my classmates called because he was anxious and they told him he was accepted two weeks ago. When he asked why it didnt say admitted on broncodirect, they said they are still processing it.

Any aerospace eng. transfers heard anything?

If you want to call and ask about your addmission status, what number do I call and how do I ask them because I feel they will just say that they are still making decisions.

The Admission’s Office number is 909.869.3210. You can ask by saying that you’re calling in regards to your admission status and was wondering when the final decisions would be made. Just do it in a polite manner. :)
