Anyone know how to fix a glitch with the iphone facebook app?

I have recently noticed that my iphone facebook app won’t let me do a status update or check in. It typically tells me it failed. Sometimes it looks like it loaded but it never does. I can post a response to someone else’s post from my phone, but cant do an update or check in. Very frustrating. I am not having the trouble uploading photos that some others hve had (though haven’t tried to upload a photo since I started having these other problems).

I have uninstalled and reinstalled the app, hard reset the phone, made sure the latest updates are done, etc, but no luck. This didnt happen ager I did the ios update on my phone, so can’t for sure blame it on that, though I hve to wonder if it could be related.

Any thoughts?

Thanks!

I was bummed that I couldn’t do the status update when Conan O’Brien walked into the restaurant at which I was having lunch. What he is doing in my city I have no idea. He is TALL.

You should check facebook’s text message settings on the mobile tab of your account. And make sure you have the right number. And make sure your location is enabled.

You can also try posting directly on facebook’s mobile site - which is just m.facebook.com.

Thanks. I think I did all that. All but going around iOS to the web app. The check in appears to be “stuck” at the lady place I tried to check in and never loaded.

jym - my droid had the same problem until facebook released an update to their app. My guess is your iphone is using whatever the apple version of what I had was. if that holds true then it will fix next time facebook releases an upgrade for apple.

Lergnom’s suggestion of going through the web access worked, but I don’t know if it “unstuck” the previous attempt to check in. I’ll see if I can do an update but suspect you are right, fendergirl. Did yours happen recently?

Still can’t post through the app- only the way lergnom suggested. Guess I have to wait for that update :(

Just got a Facebook update but it didnt fix the problem. Upload still failed :(

Did you try the old fashioned reboot? Turn the phone off, wait 20 seconds, turn the phone back on and then try it. The iPhone is a computer and as such this sometimes works.

Jym, i had to use the website instead of the app too. Maybe they need another update for i phone.

You’d think more users would be complaining.

FB on IOS is a work in progress.

Yeah, did the hard reset of my phone more than once. No luck. Uninstalled/reinstalled the app. No luck. Did the upgrade today. No luck…

I will not genuflect towards Cupertino.

Post your problem on facebook. They are always watching. Wait. Post it with a picture of a mom nursing an infant. Apparently that infuriates them and it will get their attention.

It’s interesting that some people are having a lot of problems and others (like me) aren’t having any.
But they’re working on it.

I’m not having problems with the fb app. That could simply be because my battery life has gone to h*ll since the ios6.01 update and it never has juice to post updates on fb (or text or make calls…). I tried every band aid. Turned off location svcs, no push notification, yada-yada-yada. Finally went to apple who kindly gave me a brand new 4s…which only has ios6…aaannnd is doing the same thing. I get max four hours in the house on the home network and two out of the house. The ultimate fix was to turn off wifi. Essentially I have text and calling, but as this is my primary phone rather necessary. By looking online there are other 4s sufferers out there as well. I give apple a 50/50 shot at fixing this.

My 4s battery life seems to be waning as well. Am always closing all open apps but thats only moderately helpful.

I did send a message to facebook through the help option on their app, but of course they said they cant answer any questions directly. Grrr…

One thing that did help was letting the phone drain totally down, then charge at least two hours past 100%, doing this twice. I also turned off all location/GPS but you could selectively reduce this to the ones you really need. Try turning off push notifications to a longer interval or manual retrieval. You are already closing background apps. Some people are reporting improvement with deleting email accounts and reinstalling. There are specific issues with some accounts (usually those forwarded fm a work address) continually searching for data.

All of these are simply band aids to address an issue that didn’t exist prior to ios6, which is what makes it so irritating. Obviously they’d rather we simply upgrade to the i5…uh, no thank you Cupertino.
