Well, there is so-called exam taken once a year. It is an examination for Japanese Government Scholarship.

From Mongolia, every year about 100 kids go to Japan on this scholarship.

I was preparing like mad for it, before I knew I was accepted at Cornell with a full ride. Since I just slacked off, though I am going to take the exam which will be taken tomorrow.

Anyone taking it? Do people take it in your country? Japan is a highly developed country, so it looks like this is a great chance for others.

Several people from my country take it each year. It’s not so popular here, though (when I come to think of it, any form of study abroad is not really popular here anyways…). My friend who is going to apply said that usually around ~30-40 apply (or make it to exam? not sure) and only one gets the scholarship.
I saw some exam examples few years ago and there just seems to be A LOT covered. :/

This scholarship sounds like a great opportunity indeed (1+4 years of study in Japan + travel expenses + room&board, is it?)
Good luck to anyone applying!
