<p>Hi, everyone. I was wondering if there were any people here who aren’t future doctors/lawyers/engineers, and would like to know how to make an application focused on liberal arts competitive without a published book.</p>
<p>I’m acing all available honors/AP classes, as well as planning to self-study AP Art History and Philosophy. My test scores are superb (I’ve taken the PSAT every year since sixth grade through GATE). Next year (junior) I will have studied through AP Calc BC (I’m pretty good at math, but it isn’t my passion). I take language courses at my local community college, and will be fluent in Spanish, German, and Mandarin Chinese by graduation.
I volunteer at my town’s historical society and library, have started a literacy program at my school, and have won awards in speech and debate. I participate in Interact Club (Rotary’s Key Club), my school’s literary magazine, and am secretary of Model UN. I wanted to be a Senate Page but my mom wouldn’t let me apply, as we live in California and DC was too far away. I am planning on interning at an art museum over summer, as well as applying to TASP when the time comes. </p>
<p>But, as I don’t play any sports or instruments, there are few awards I even know of outside of speech and debate, and have no hooks, I would like to know how to make my unconventional application competitive to schools such as Williams, Rice, and Stanford. Please help!</p>
