So, I guess last night was the series finale. I’m wondering what others thought. I was pretty shocked.

I wasn’t really shocked. I was kind of expecting it. It seems to be more common to kill off people in the series end. They did that in the TV show Medium, too. I really liked Big Love. It was one show I looked forward to each week. The scene where Bill looked out over his congregation and saw the people from long ago was really neat.

I really liked the scene where the three wives were driving on the highway.

I’m going to miss it, have been watching it since it first started.

Wasn’t thrilled with the ending, but at least gladd they lived happily ever after…except for Bill that is-ha! I would of prefered Nikki to get shot, but I did love it last night when she admitted she was cold, jealous and spiteful, and then Barb agreed w/ her, so funny.

Figured it would end somewhat like this, they had spiraled out of control.

What will you turn your attention to now that it is gone?

I haven’t watched the show in a few years but I watched the past few weeks. The neighbor and the upset over the sod seemed a bit out of left field but I suppose that was the point.

I thought they handled the end of the show well and that is not easy to do.

I never saw the show but thought I’d let you know that it was the topic of NPR’s “Fresh Air” today. I heard a bit of the interview. Really interesting as they talked about what a feminist show it is but how some people didn’t get that. Anyway, you might want to check it out.

I foolishly read the first post above, and the first line of the second post BEFORE I just watched the episode On Demand. I clicked off before I could read the spoiler of who gets hit. Since I didn’t know, I kept waiting for a car crash when the 3 were in the spiffy new car! Not sure I loved the finale (except for the return of Sarah which made lots of sense), but I have loved the depth and intensity of this show. Amazing how much they always crammed into a 50 minute episode. Kind of makes you realize how little most other shows accomplish in the same amount of time. Anyway, RIP. Now we have to find something new to watch!

Oh no, I shouldn’t have read this, now I know what happens. I was trying to watch it on a flight last night, but the very nice guy next to me was a Mormon…and I didn’t know if that show annoys or offends him, so I just passed.

Oh well, even knowing the ending, I still gotta see it!

Maybe this thread needs to be retitled with a Spoiler Alert so people can watch it the finale first before they read this …

I had a love/hate relationship with this show. I absolutely despised Bill and his holier-than-thou ways, and the sister wives were so under his thumb, they each should have grown a pair, so to speak.

And yet I watched it every week, hating it each time. I mean, how much trouble can you bring on to yourself, your family, and your life, yet blame the rest of the world for not adapting to you and your ways?

Okay, it’s just fiction…get a grip, heyalb. :D

As for what I’ll watch, I can’t wait till the next season of Curb Your Enthusiasm arrives. This season takes place in NYC. Bring it on!!

Pugmadkate- Bill promised to fix his lawn earlier this season when the press and gawkers trampled it after Bill announced he was a a polygamist. He was despondent after losing his job and he and his wife were divorcing. His wife spent money they didn’t have buying into Margene’s Gogi (sp?) pyramid…he was bitter!
I had the weird idea that maybe Bill would somehow escape the rape charges, take his flock back to Juniper Creek and make it the Polygamist Utopia he was seeking. I like their ending better. But I really wanted to see Albie done in!

I cried a little when he had Barb give him the blessing as he was dying. On the one hand, it sucked that he had to be the one to give her that privilege, but on the other hand it was touching that he finally recognized her the way she wanted to be recognized. It also touched me that the wives stayed together after he was gone. It showed that, as messed up as they may have been, they did think of each other as family and genuinely love each other. It made me very curious about their imaginary future though. In that situation, how long could they really stay together before one or all of them would need to be in a romantic relationship again? I also loved the part where Nikki was saying how awful she was and Barb was just saying, “I know, I know”.

Thank you, paris79, for getting me up to speed. Now it makes much more sense.

PhysicsMom, I cried a bit as well during the blessing. I wonder too about the future of the three women…it made me wish they were getting their own show because I think it would be an interesting one.

YES^^^^^^^ I would watch!! But, won’t hold my breathe.

Also, wanted to see Albi finished off better!

I just downloaded Natalie Maines’ “God Only Knows.” I miss the Dixie Chicks. I didn’t watch Big Love much over the past couple of seasons but did tune in for last week and then the finale. Matt Seitz on Salon.com had a great review.

My head is still spinning from the ending .Not sure if I like it or not. I found this season to be way off track from their original storyline. I think the last couple of seasons has portryayed Bill as a totally selfish man…not as into his family as his own personal ambitions. We actually had to catch up on the last few episodes because it wasn’t worth staying up for. I too wanted to see something worse happen to Albie…and there were a few charectors that just seemed to disappear without a mention of what happened to them…Ana , Wanda and Joey…most of the children .
Barb’s charector always looked like she was about to burst into tears…even in the opening of every show…hmmmm

What I found difficult to swallow was how much stress this family endured on a day-to-day basis. They would literally segue from one crisis right into the next without a chance to go to the bathroom or grab a snack. Bill would walk in the door reeling from something and then Nikki would drop another bombshell. Also, how come it the faithful started coming from Juniper Creek at 3:00 a.m. for a morning church service but Nikki et. al. seemed to go back and forth like it was about an hour away?
