Anyone watch Parenthood, the tv show?

Sarah needs to back off with Drew. I felt sorry for him last night. It’s got to be pretty embarassing for him that she’s dating a young teacher at his sch… and other kids know it. The last thing he’d want is for his gf’s very normal parents to get wind of it. And esp. after what he saw her and her teacher boy doing, Sarah should realize that he needs some space. She’s pressing too hard.

I thought she got into Cornell EA not ED. I don’t know what Cornell really does, but I thought she said “early action” which leaves her some flexibility if they don’t meet financial need to go elsewhere. I think she will end up going elsewhere unless the music studio lands some huge accounts soon!

I think she said “early admission,” so no tipoff as to whether it’s ED or EA.

Bumping this thread so we can talk about this week’s show.

I wasn’t exactly right about the Amber/Bob story line, but I think I came closest. The flower thing was funny.

I thought last night’s show was so-so. It advanced the plots, but nothing earth shattering. The only off note for me was Zoey moving out and Julia not freaking when she found out about the bedrest diagnosis. One can lose a baby if bedrest is not taken seriously and we know that Julia would have researched that immediately.

Zoe is played by Actress Rosa Salazar

Source: [Who plays Zoe on the tv show Parenthood? | AnswerFlip.com | Ask. Learn. Share.](http://www.answerflip.com/who-plays-zoe-tv-show-parenthood)

Did we see Julia learn about the bedrest? A prescription, I think, not a diagnosis. The diagnosis was incompetent cervix – a phrase I have always thought a little offensive. And – without doing any research – I suspect that an incompetent cervix diagnosis would be inappropriate when a woman is already in her ninth month of pregnancy. The incompetent cervices I have known manifested themselves much, much earlier. Anyway, I only remember Joel hearing about it, not seeing him discuss it with Julia, or Julia’s reaction.

Also – what did Sydney say that seems to have galvanized Zoey into action? I wasn’t paying enough attention, and I missed whatever it was.

Bobby/Amber. Ewwwwww. But not as bad as it could have been. I liked that it made Amber doubt herself, and that Bobby wasn’t a creep.

Braverman boys/Dawes (Goldsmith) boys. Is Dawes THAT anxious to sell out for a few seconds of free publicity? Really? I think everyone felt a little dirty after that one. (In their defense, there is certainly a huge overlap between the Parenthood demo and the Dawes demo.)

Sarah/Mark. I thought the reunion of college friends was a great idea for advancing the story, but the execution was sort of Eh. He was insensitive in proposing they try out for one of those Honda “leap list” ads, but he should run, not walk, to the nearest exit after Sarah’s baby-now tantrum.

Sydney asked Zoe what she thinks that should name her baby brother. She wants to named it Andy. Can my baby brother spend the night in my room sometimes? Or will he always be in your room?

ETA: I missed the first half and am watching it now.

Why is Sarah so gung-ho on another child? I think I missed that… and I agree Mark should get the heck out of there.

I have to go to a mtg and can’t write down all my thoughts now, but one I think I really like about this show is the reality that we’re all driven by our fears. Sarah wants a baby because she’s afraid of being old, being without her kids, wants to prove she’s not too old to be with Mark, etc.

The twist that really surprised me is how Dr. Joe bought a house. Did you notice during the concert in the previous episode that he kept looking at Jasmine looking at Crosby looking at the cellist? Dr. Joe is upping the ante out of fear of losing her. IMHO.

Bob Little isn’t cute enough for Amber. I wish she’d date Mark!

JHS- Do you blame Dawes–publicity is publicity and I love those boys!! Check them out [Dawes | Dawes](http://dawestheband.com/)

The Mark/Sarah story needs to end. How he couldn’t look around the group at the reunion and realize that he is dating his mom is beyond me. I don’t know what either one of them is thinking. I think the Amber/Bobby thing is not going to end well.

The Sarah/pregnancy storyline is annoying me. She’s 40 year old and has never really pulled it together as an adult. She’s still living in her parents’ house and is just trying to get into a career and she’s in a relationship that is still pretty new and where there is no real commitment; they don’t even live together. How are these ideal circumstances for a baby? She needs to grow up and get her life together before she starts another family.

What Sarah’s mom did not say when they talked about the baby was perfect. Her face told it all. Surprised Sarah has not thought about Julia and her baby needs as a stressor.

On one hand, the attraction between Bob Little and Amber seems genuine, but didn’t Christina work with him previously and wouldn’t he be at least mid-30s? If so, I find it less plausible since Amber is only like 18-19 and she is so non-traditional. I just can’t decide what I think about that one.
As for Jasmine, she seems to desperately want Crosby to say don’t go with Dr. Joe, be with me. But, I think she’s now more attracted to Crosby because he has matured and he isn’t going to be selfish like that.

Youdon’tsay: Thanks.

SockherMom: I like Dawes, too (hence my comment about Parenthood being a good tie-in for them). But I like them a little less after that clumsy bit of product placement. Maybe I will forgive them if next week they have Taylor singing in the Luncheonette like Cee-Lo. (I do harbor some resentment about Dawes, I will admit, for two reasons: (1) They are sooooooooo LA, sooooooo retro, and soooooo calculating about it. (2) The keyboard player they had for a year to replace their original keyboard player, who’s now back in the band? He is the grandson of my ex-secretary. The first time I saw them, and I realized who the keyboard guy was, I was so thrilled, and I called my former secretary the next day to tell her how thrilled I was, and she was thrilled I had seen him and figured out that was her grandson, and she told me the whole story about how he had dropped out of college to join the band . . . . And then they screwed him over, and the original/returned guy is not as good. And it doesn’t actually make any difference, because the band is Taylor Goldsmith and his brother singing harmonies and anyone else they want to let on stage with them, but still, if you hurt my former secretary’s grandson, you hurt me.)

Bobby Little: I think they established that he’s a wunderkind type in his late 20s. And his mom still nags him. It’s still gross, but it floats on the edges of plausibility. Especially in California, where rumor has it 18 year-olds are really considered fair game for adult men. What isn’t really plausible is that he’s so romantic.

Dr. Joe: Will always be Principal Wood to me. Anyway, I wish they would leave the high school romance storylines to the high school characters. I agree, they seem to be building up to some renewed Crosby/Jasmine crisis. And given what happened with Bobby and Amber, I am no longer going to give the Parenthood writing team the benefit of hoping they maybe avoid the obvious rather than jumping on it with both feet.

Week after week I am surprised that Parenthood is still on NBC. It doesn’t do super well in the ratings and doesn’t get a lot of press by its network. NBC kicked out Friday Night Lights after the second season airing it on DirectTv and then on NBC but I think they didn’t air the last season. I am nervous to see if it will get renewed for a fourth season and am surprised it is still being made.

Sarah’s boyfriend is going to last long. Jason Ritter had a failed series (The Event) and was brought back to Parenthood but has been cast in a pilot being produced by Jason Katims (Parenthood creator). Pilot season is a longshot for most people but NBC has some trust in Katims as a writer and as an EP. This news just doesn’t sound good for the show in general. [Jason Katims, Dick Wolf Projects Get Pilot Orders at NBC - Hollywood Reporter](Jason Katims, Dick Wolf Projects Get Pilot Orders at NBC – The Hollywood Reporter)

Sometimes I roll my eyes at the story lines but we haven’t jumped the shark just yet. I’ve been mad a Jason Katims storylines before but they eventually played itself out or just got rid of completely (mainly talking about Landry murder storyline in S2 of FNL).

Did I miss something? Who/what is Bobby Little’s mom?

I can’t get past the idea that he pursues Amber AND promotes her. How stupid is that?

I liked the way Christina is so clueless about the relationship. And so was Sarah. And so much inner turmoil for Amber that they are totally unaware of. I find that very realistic.

I just watched it again with ds2 (we always watch together, and I didn’t want to tell him I cheated and watched this morning while he was at school!). Watching it again, Sarah just makes me sick. She is so stupid and selfish, and I hate that Drew is going to find her pg test. Doesn’t she care about anyone’s feelings but her own???

Sarah just told Drew wanting a baby is the next natural step …ugh

For some reason, this episode made me cry.
