Well, I quite messed up my marks in 9th and 11th standard.
I got about 80% and 69% respectively.

So, My question is.
If I take AP exams next year and ace them. Will it be able to cover up my high school record?
And Btw I can also ask my school to insert avg. Class marks (which were quite lower than mine) in my transcript and he can also write about my current family tensions as a reason of my low grades.

Will these help to increase my chances into Stanford, or any other school?
I have pretty good Ecs, SAT, essays, recs.

He = Counsellor
I don’t mean to sound proud.
But, i was the school topper/brightest kid in the major(Computer science) that i’m going to do in College

And the true reason of those low marks were that I was never intrested in subjects other than CS and ENGLISH.
I’m VERY passionate about computers, that love for it made me self learn programming when i was in 9th grade itself. (which Indian kid does that?)
That’s it. That’s how I stand apart from my next year Indian competitors.

Is this going to help?
I have a certificate from Google. :P

AP’s are not going to cover up for 9th and 11th grades as far as I know. They might be good to show that you have an interest in a subject that’s not taught at school (like Economics or something) but you still need to do well at school.
That being said there are other ways to show that you are good at subjects like computer science and this can potentially cover up for your grades.
The best way is the international olympiads. Since you enjoy programming you might want to look into the IOI :
[Indian Association for Research in Computing Science - IARCS](http://www.iarcs.org.in/)
Although if you’re already in the 12th, you won’t be able to participate until after you receive your college decisions.

Actually a lot of schools teach programming before the 9th. and the languages you mentioned are markup and/or web languages and are relatively much easier to learn than C++/Java/BASIC. Personally i started learning C++ in the 3rd grade. going to be applying for class of 2018.

nope self taught. C++ is being taught now (starting 11th) but it’s a piece of cake for the most part.

Anyway if your class average is lower than your grades then i wouldn’t worry too much. Plus from your chance thread, you obviously have great extracurriculars. Just get your grades up somewhat and you should be okay. Stanford is a reach for everyone though.
I’m in a similar position as you except my grades are slightly higher and my SAT scores are a lot lower (2060). Going to retake the SAT this summer and get ~2200 hopefully

yes i did self-learn (or at least begin self-learning) C++ in the 3rd grade with some help from my dad initially. I made some small text based ‘games’ back then. I’d say I only really got good at it ~8th or 9th grade.

That is so cool. BTW I had nobody to teach me. Or even give me the basic stuff needed. So, I had to do it all by myself.

But web design is a better field if you want to earn some quick cash. I earn around 100k a month by developing sites for clients.
And most of the entrepreneurship opportunities are in this field.

well it’s not like my dad taught me much.
He’s like okay this is cout and this is #include <iostream>
now you’re on your own. literally.
ok maybe he showed me an if statement too.</iostream>

And i would be interested in doing web development if it means i can start a business thing. that would be awesome for college and i’ve been thinking about doing something like it for a while now.

As far as I know, AP scores earn you college credits and they don’t make up for your bad HS grades. However, an upward trend and an explanatory note from your conselor might help.
