Hey, I am taking the AP Bio exam this May, and was wondering if people could post tips on how to do well…meaning 4 or 5.

Also, which is the BEST AP BIO REVIEW BOOK?

Also, what can I do for the essays, since my teacher rarely gives them and we do poorly about 2-4 pts out of 10, and we are prepared for multiple choice only, any advice?

Also, if your teacher is the type that is already narrowing down the topics for 2008 AP Bio essay, please share!!!

Everyone repeat after me…CLIFFS AP BIO - that’s all you need, seriously.

The essays are actually very easy. Could be because I got a set of easy ones (all ecology and dna), but they are just straight up answering and drawing diagrams. Not like the complex essay rubrics with DBQs etc. But pace yourself - if you feel comfortable, then you’re going too slow. I finished my essay on the buzzer, most other people didn’t get to the end.

Study broad and with medium depth. Try and enjoy the material and think to yourself “If I had to write 10 questions on this chapter, what would I write?”

Do yourself a favor and sit down for an hour a few times each week and review each unit in Cliffs. Try and build each unit on the previous one so you get to ecology and think… Oh yeah…so at the bottom of the chain we have these desert bushes, producers, which have kranz anatomy, which modify their photosynth cycle by using lactic acid cycle, which is all going on in a sealed zone around the mitochondria and chloroplasts, which use ATP synthatase etc…it’s been a while since I did Bio, but if you can think wide then you will do fine.

i have cliffs. should i be memorizing the numbers such at atp in something and all that? How far should i study? just get the basic idea or get the whole thing down inside out?

the amount of atp produced per cell varies on how efficient it is. memorize how many atp molecules can be made from each molecule of nadp, fadh2.

Facts like these can be considered basic because you could delve much deeper into the subject…

yeah cliffs notes is enough to get a 5 just know most of the info. if you can ace the MC section then you do not need to do well at all on the FRQ to get a 5

yeah how can we do well on Free response? Also, are there some topics this year that are likely going to be tested aka teacher predictions because that turned out true last year for AP US, so I was wondering?

any studying tips? should i be just getting the overall idea of things or should i know the thing and EVERYTHING about it? how do i know that i know enough about the topic?
