AP Microeconomics

I currently have a 82 in AP Microeconomics and it’s the hardest class ever! I’m trying my best to understand the concept but with no background on economics it’s really tough. Also the tests in the class count for 50% of your grade and I haven’t done so well on them. In fact I have one tomorrow and I’m scared that I will not do well and my grade will be in the 70s range. We don’t have projects in the class and assignments and quizzes only count for 5% of our grade. Help?

I have high A’s in my other classes and even made all A’s my junior year. I think I have a bad case of senioritis or I’m not a good test taker :frowning:

How you are studying is not working for you…so change it up.

AP micro doesn’t have Econ pre-reqs so not having taken Economics isn’t the reason you’re not doing well.
And tests counting for 50%, of the grade and no project grade would likely be normal for college (in some classes it’ll be 100% test results). So see this class as a true training experience in preparation for college.
Go see the teacher and ask for advice on how to study, or if S/he has noticed that you always miss the same type of questions or aspect of the content.
See if others would be interested in forming a study group that meets twice a week after school.

how many hours a day are you studying? I have taken this class and anything more than 30 mins - 2.5 hrs is the range of time it should take, if you take longer then you have to revise how you study the material.

See the teacher. Use online resources. It may be that this is simply not intuitive for you, and you aren’t the first. Make sure as you’re studying and that you can do the problems and graph them – it may take a while for the “logic” to click. Personally, I always found everything made sense when I read it but that it was a big leap from there to use and reproduce it.
