I’m very interesting in psychology and I research about it in my spare time, but I don’t want to major in it for college. This is because I’m not interested in any jobs psychology typically offers.
Do you think it’s a good idea to take Ap psychology even though I have no intention of majoring in it?
Btw have no idea what I want to major in, and I’m currently a junior.
It can be good if you want to go into any non-tech fields like political science, communications, journalism etc. I guess physch would be most beneficial where you work and utilize your people skills the most.
Take it! Psychology is such a broad field and you’ll see more of what psych has to offer-- maybe you’ll change your mind. Psychology isn’t just about counseling and mental health-- in fact that’s just a small part of it. Psychologists work in industry, education and research settings. The research and quantitative methods background are great prep for careers in many areas.
There’s no reason to take only classes in your (intended) major, especially in high school.
If you have a genuine interest in it you should take it!
Take AP Psych if for no other reason than it’s an easy AP!
That’s a good point!
Thanks for the responses everyone.
