I need some advice. I’m in IB, but I also really want an AP certification. I already have the Social Studies credit (I took AP US H last year). I’m an incoming sophomore. My schedule next year is as follows. AP Calc AB, AP Human Geography, AP Government, Honors Chemisty, Chorus, Gym, and IB English 10. I still need an AP English, Science, and Language. I figure I can take the AP Spanish test when I take IB Spanish. Should I switch my Honors Chemistry with an AP Science? Or should I take the AP Biology test when I take IB Biology? Keeping in mind my course load, should I take AP Physics or AP Biology? So many questions…
Why? When you say “certification” do you mean the AP International Diploma? You don’t need both IBD and APID.
No. For many colleges you should have chem (and physics).
For the APID, you only need one math or science, so AP Calc fulfills that requirement, But if you want to take the AP exam ahen you take IB Bio, feel free.
You don’t show Spanish in your coursework next year. If your IB Spanish course is ab initio, it won’t prepare you for the AP exam.
Assuming you mean junior year? It really depends upon your potential college major and career interests. Again, if you’re targeting top colleges, you will need physics at some point.
