AP Test That Knocks Out Math Req, Worth Paying For?

I’m considering taking the AP Calculus AB test and registration is at the end of the week. For the major I think I want to pursue, if I were to pass with a 3+ I could skip my math req. which would only be Pre-Calculus I believe. I’m pretty certain if I take the test I will get a 3+ as well.

My question is, is it worth the 90 dollars to take the test and skip a math class in college? I’m going to strive for as high of a GPA as possible in college, so it’s somewhat appealing to possibly take an easy class for my first year instead of taking whatever math I have to, even if it’s just Pre Calculus because I probably will still have to put more time in the class than another to get a good grade.

Is it worth $90 to skip a class that would cost in the thousands elsewhere? If you only need through Pre-Calc for your major, then yes, probably. :stuck_out_tongue:

If you can use the AP test to get out of the math requirement, and you don’t like math, then yes I think it is worth the money.

Yes.
It’s worth spending $90 now to save thousands of dollars later on!
And this applies to most AP classes.
And if you do want to take the class for “the easy A” (as long as the class isn’t “weedout” in which case A’s are rationed - probably not a good idea unless you have to take calc 2 for your chosen major) you just don’t ask for the credit at the university.

Which major?
