<p>I think you will find the most growth in schools who have need blind admissions and a no loan financial aid policy. It doesn’t take a brain surgeon to wonder why you’d want to apply.</p>
<p>Found this in the Amherst Student (school paper):
[The</a> Amherst Student | News | College Admits 31 Percent of Early](<a href=“http://amherststudent.amherst.edu/current/news/view.php?year=2008-2009&issue=13§ion=news&article=05]The ”>http://amherststudent.amherst.edu/current/news/view.php?year=2008-2009&issue=13§ion=news&article=05 )</p>
<p>442 applied ED. 140 accepted (31% acceptance rate)<br>
Parker (Dean of Admissions and Financial Aid Tom Parker) expects that about 15-20 of the students deferred admission will be accepted in the spring, when regular decisions are made. They will be competing with the roughtly 7,650 regular decision applicants to the College. This represents approximately one percent drop in applicants from last year, when over 7,700 regular decision applications were recieved. This is notable because the previous year, the college say a 17-percent jump in applicants. According to Parker, most liberal arts colleges have seen similar decreases in regular applications.
</p>
<p>Additionally:
The Class of 2013 is slated to have 465 students, 25 more students than the Class of 2012. Parker said there had been plans to gradually increase the size of the accepted class, but that the process was sped up in order to raise additional revenue given the economic climate.

<p>some other New Orleans schools
[Interest</a> in New Orleans colleges high - AP - NOLA.com ](<a href=“http://www.nola.com/newsflash/index.ssf?/base/news-45/1233326387224790.xml&storylist=louisiana]Interest ”>http://www.nola.com/newsflash/index.ssf?/base/news-45/1233326387224790.xml&storylist=louisiana )</p>
<p>
Tulane University official say they have received a record number of applications, with nearly 40,000 high-school seniors expressing interest in enrolling at the New Orleans school.</p>
<p>Although Tulane had the most interest, it was not alone among local four-year institutions of higher learning. Officials say applications to Dillard University more than doubled since last year, and increases were reported at Loyola University, Our Lady of Holy Cross College and the University of New Orleans.
</p>
<p>I think this has been said elsewhere, but Tulane’s application explosion has a lot to do with their aggressive priority application direct mail campaign vs a true desire to attend the school.</p>
<p>Tulane has been using priority applications for many years, predating Katrina. I don’t think that is necessarily the reason for the increase in applications.</p>
