Uconn expects 23000, which is about 9% up

Cornell? Anyone?

I think you will find the most growth in schools who have need blind admissions and a no loan financial aid policy. It doesn’t take a brain surgeon to wonder why you’d want to apply.

What about Penn?

Columbia anyone?

Found this in the Amherst Student (school paper):

interesting article on the economic impact and application/enrollment situation at Historically Black Colleges & Universities (HSCUs).

[With Economic Slump, Fewer Students Expected to Enroll in Black Colleges](http://diverseeducation.com/artman/publish/article_12229.shtml)

Binghamton U – apps up, but not yet quantified

[Binghamton University Pipe Dream | Application spike tightens resources](A staticky future - Pipe Dream)

[Tulane University - New Wave](http://tulane.edu/news/newwave/index.cfm) Tulane breaks last year’s record application numbers, when they cut off applications at 34,125. Last year at this time they had 33,756 applications. This year they have 39,763 so far, and still counting.

Virginia up ~16%. (UVa switched to Common App exclusively this year.)

[Notes from Peabody: The UVA Application Process](http://uvaapplication.blogspot.com/)

BTW, doing the math quickly, Tulane’s apps are up 16.5% so far from last year, and last year’s were up 100% from the year before.

Better link directly the the article on this year’s applicat pool at Tulane [Tulane University - Fall ’09 Applications Shatter Record](http://tulane.edu/news/newwave/013009_applications_soar.cfm)

some other New Orleans schools
[Interest in New Orleans colleges high - AP - NOLA.com](http://www.nola.com/newsflash/index.ssf?/base/news-45/1233326387224790.xml&storylist=louisiana)

I think this has been said elsewhere, but Tulane’s application explosion has a lot to do with their aggressive priority application direct mail campaign vs a true desire to attend the school.

Tulane has been using priority applications for many years, predating Katrina. I don’t think that is necessarily the reason for the increase in applications.
