Applying for Colgate ED 2?

Can I get into Colgate?

I have 2200 SAT (710 CR, 780 M, 710 W), 9.1/10 GPA (HS is among the most competitive and “mark-harsh”)

Extra curriculars: a lot of community-based voluntary project; great involvement in environmental protection and charity; organized English, music and environment club by myself; organized a big event that earned popularity on media; worked as an English tutor; etc.

Academic achievements: first prize in city’s academic contest; second prize in national academic contest; second prize in city’s English contest.

Essays: a lot of cultural colors

The only thing I’m worry about is whether asking for a noncustodial waiver may hurt my chance. Our family is poor and we lost contact with our father years ago. My parents were never married.

You have a good chance. I hope you had written about your situation in your essay regarding your father. It may even clinch the deal for you.

Thank you  I will do my best to get this shot just right.

Any other evaluation will be great!

Is Colgate your clear first choice? Then you should indeed apply ED2.

I disagree about writing about your father. Your counselor can mention it, it’ll have more impact. Don’t talk about your father, but about who you are. If your father’s absence has made you who you are, sure, but you must be someone else than the “kid who was abandonned by his father”, rigth?

You are correct, I’m not writing about my father but about something else that made me willing to engage in anything new.

Colgate is my clear first choice. I absolutely love the environment and people, but at the moment I’m still quite anxious. Nevertheless, I will still apply ED2 and hope for the best

Myos got it right, it would be much better if your counselor writes about your situation. Good luck.
