I’m interested in applying to Cal Poly SLO for computer science, but I would really like an edge in the application process. The only thing I really have going for me is that I left high school after my first semester of junior year. However, due to my mother’s pancreatic cancer diagnosis, I’ve had to take college very slowly and haven’t exactly been getting the best grades (mostly Bs). Any advice?

Sorry about your mother’s diagnosis, you’re probably having a rough time. Are you on track to graduate from high school next spring?

Admission to Cal Poly is very competitive and is strictly numbers based. GPA and test scores weight heavily. GPA generally needs to be over 4.0 to have a good chance of admission.
