Applying to same place twice

Last summer I applied to an internship with a very small law office. I didn’t get it. The head lawyer called me to let me know there wasn’t a spot for me and encouraged me to re-apply for any future internships they offer. I know I had made it to the last rounds of interviews, and I got the feeling they generally liked me.

I didn’t apply to any of their other internships because I was away at school and 2 hours away from their office. A legal analyst position just opened up at their firm. They are looking for a recent college grad (just graduated!) who is planning on going to law school (like me!) in a year or two.

How would I go about bringing this up in my cover letter? Is it smart to mention my continued interest in their firm…I’m a little worried about coming off as creepy. Should I just mention it briefly or should I write about what interests me about their firm and what experienced I’ve gained since I last applied?

Thanks for any help

YES, you should definitely apply, and Yes, you should mention your previous experience. Mention by name the individual who suggested you apply again. You obviously impressed that individual, so this is all good.

The worst thing that can happen is that you don’t get the job, but guess what – If you don’t apply, you won’t get it anyway!!
