Applying to schools within my school

Let’s say I get into UVA (University of Virginia), do I have to apply separately to the Darden School of Business or the School of Engineering and Applied Science ?
Do my admission automatically grant me permission to attend these portions of the school ?

At some colleges you apply and get accepted directly to a specialty school (ex. business) and at other colleges you apply to the specialty school once you are enrolled in the college (ex. at the end of freshman year) The procedure is usually made very clear on the school website and/or supplement.

Thanks a lot, I’ll check the website and see if I can find it

Darden is a graduate school, so that’s off the table until you finish college.

Once here, students in the College of Arts and Sciences have access to the Curry School of Education, the McIntire School of Commerce (undergraduate business), and the Batten School of Leadership and Public Policy. Admission to McIntire and Batten had become competitive.

You will see the UVa first year application will give you a choice of applying for the Architecture School, the Engineering School, or the College of Arts and Sciences. As Dean J noted, you will have the option of later applying to other schools, mainly during your second year. It is easy to transfer from Architecture or Engineering to the College, if you later decide they are not right for you. It would be harder to later transfer from the College to Engineering or Arch (with a couple exceptions), because the courses follow an ordered succession. Most students interested in business, public policy or education would start in the College.

I forgot - the school of nursing is also direct admit from high school. Education is a 5 year joint bachelors-masters program.
