Hey! Is it possible to apply and gain admission to mid-tier US universities with only AS (Advanced Subsidiary) results, SAT 1 results and some SAT 2s? I am not considering any of the Ivy League or top 40 as my results are not up to par. I am looking at the likes of Penn State, University of Pittsburgh, Rutgers and some others. My AS results were AAA, SAT 1 was 2000 and I am a Green Card holder. SAT 2s I am taking on the 2nd of May. Any help would be much appreciated!!

YES YOU CAN!!!

In fact, it is becoming a common practice, with lots of students eying Canada with only AS results.

hmmm canada also u say? mcgill seems to be pretty competitive. they want FULL A levels. Toronto can accept 4 AS levels I saw. U sure it won’t be a problem If I apply to the above mentioned US unis with only AS results? I mean they ain’t Ivy League so they prolly don’t have that good of an idea on the British system. Game, did u apply to any US unis with only AS results? Any other internationals out there in the same boat as me?

Yes AS level is acceptable because you’ve completed 12 years of school education and thats what they’re looking for.

I didn’t apply, but know at least three kids doing it. Kids because they are my juniors. And it would be better to email the adcoms at these unis before furthering your venture.

Thats what I did too…but now the uni that accepted me is asking for my final results, the A2, which will only be known around August or late July, way past the date I’m supposed to submit it to them. Do i send them a forecast instead?

Yep…send em the forecast grades with a neat little note saying that A2 grades won’t be available until mid-Aug

I applied on my GCSE and AS results and didn’t encounter any problems. My school is sending my end of term 2 report (which also contains predicted grades) in lieu of a transcript in June.

I’m sure you’d be fine at any school in the US (not just the “mid-tier” ones) :)
