April 2012 Reading Discussion

Winged creatures?
I thought it was worms and other things if they were considered at all.
I remember seeing that it is not considered as a winged insect…

It was worms and serpents, if they were considered at all. I swear it.

it was “something” - when they were considered at all I can’t remember lol, worms does make more sense

Yes. My bad it was serpents and worms.

It was directly stated in the essay that they were classically viewed as worms and serpents.

No, the answer was Niepce. The question was “in the passage, who was the earliest person (or whatever) to work on developing fixed images” and it specifically said Daguerre continued the work of Niepce.

first develop or first improve?

"No, the answer was Niepce. The question was “in the passage, who was the earliest person (or whatever) to work on developing fixed images” and it specifically said Daguerre continued the work of Niepce. "

are you sure it said to work on developing? that sounds about right, couldnt that be interpereted as it was already invented and daguerro worked on developing them? anyone else put daguerro? starting to get a bad feeling about that one, it was right there too -.-

I put it…Niepce invented and Daguerre developed…guess that’s -2 :(

I found it!

The creator of one of the earliest technologies of the image named his invention, appropriately enough, for himself. Louis-Jacques-Mand

I put Daguerre, but I’m pretty sure I was wrong now. I’m not going to sweat over one wrong though.

The question was worded specifically to mean “who did it first”, not “who improved upon it”. I’m 99.9% sure that the word “improve” was not in the question.

He built on the work of Niepce, so is it Niepce or Daguerre?

Thanks iris0208, however we dont know the exact wording of the question… we already established that npiece came first and daguerro improved it, but what exactly was the question asking?

I guess it is Niepce. I think it was asking who first created it.

Did Niepce create it? or begin to work at creating it?

“try to produce a fixed image.” So it wasn’t produced yet?

I’m just gasping for breath at this point…

But it D, like, “developed” it. N just, like, worked on it or “put the info on the table?”

I answered D too. :(

Niescpe made the first to make the photograph he was the response.
:(

Daguerre made the first fixed image I think, I wish we had the exact question but I think Niescpe is the answer.

Dammit Niespcse (sp?) I don’t like you…

The author is definitely admiring of the lady botanist.
The guy refuses to elaborate on which generation had it the hardest.
Niepce was the first person to create a photolike machine, which was what the question wanted.

I also got admiring.
I also got refused to elaborate on which gen got it rough.
I missed the Niepce and but Daguerrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrre
