Story was manipulated in that the North Vietnamese had openly attacked the U.S. and thus LBJ asked for increased military intervention in Nam. After Vietnam , Congress rescinded the Resolution as the Pentagon Papers surfaced and showed the public the real intentions and strategies in Vietnam.</p>
